Hello All

I'm a bit of a heavy metal head and I'm starting to like Amon Amarth.
I've have been downloading a few bit from Youtube and it is rather powerful stuff!
Any fan among Piston Head who could guide me on their best album?

Cheers

Jack

Fate of Norns is perhaps my favourite album of theirs but their newer stuff is much better mastered, Twilight of the Thundergod is a very good album too.

If it's the Viking theme you like I've recently discovered Tyr, they're more folk/progressive metal than Amon Amarth but they've got some cracking tunes in their arsenal.

Another Amon Amarrth fan here. Fate of Norms is probably their best, but saying that they are all good.

If this is the sort of stuff you like, check out Hammerheart by Bathory

Tyr are a good shout, also try King Of Asgard , although they dont have the same bass heavy mix or roar on the vocals.

Seeing as they released a new video last week I will mention Fleshgod Apocalypse Epilogue , brilliant (still miffed I missed them recently)

Edit: I didnt actually answer the question!? As far as Amon Amarth goes my favorite is still Versus The World, followed by Twilight of the Thunder God and With Oden On Our Side. My favorite track probably being Doom Over Dead Man (which is actually from Surtur Rising oddly). They haven't released anything I would consider bad, just start from the beginning, remembering that Crusher and the ealier albums dont have the same level of production and sound as if they are being played at %125 compared to the post Versus stuff.

Also check out Following the Beast by Gormathon. It really is a brilliant album, fusing Viking and traditional heavy metal together. One of the best albums of 2014 IMHO.
