Synth wish list...

Next will probably be either the MFB Dominion X SED or the MEN Dominion 1. I'd prefer the X as I don't need keys and want patch memory but it was recently discontinued so I need to get a move on.
I also like the Sub 37 but am waiting to see if they release a rack version with a full compliment of knobs.

I've always wanted a Roland D-50.
I've got two of them, got a bargain on the first one, IIRC about £275, with flightcase, sustain pedal, all 5 Roland ROM Cards, and RAM card as well. Had to take it to pieces to clean up the key bed contacts though. The patch button contacts are a bit worn now and could do with replacing (common problem). The next one I got for about £325 from Ebay, that had a couple of memory Roland Memory cards (duplicate of what I had), plus a RAM Card and aftermarket "PA Decoder" memory card with additional sounds and flightcase. It also had a Roland U-220 rack mount and memory cards with it as well.
I downloaded a load of Jean Michel Jarre sound patches off the Web, and loaded them on, so I have a lot of the Revolutions sounds on one of them .
These were about 5 years ago. They are both visually like new with hardly any marks on them, they have gone up a bit in value now.
A guy used to work with an we would jam after work together bought a Yamaha SY99 which I was always in awe of as it just sounded so realistic for the 'traditional' type sounds such as piano. I had my Roland D5 at the time (still have it) but after hearing his SY99 mine seemed a bit toy like.
I had a look recently to see if I could find a used rack version (I think they called them 'TG' as in TG77 or TG99 for the rack version of the SY77/SY99), but couldn't find one. I thought I'd be able to connect my D5 using midi.
Still I've probably got enough on plate with my Roland TD30 drum kit and various guitars...

I Bought the baby version Yamaha SY35 when it was released.
Same quality sounds but without arpeggiator/sequencer.
Often used it as a master keyboard paired to an Evolution EVS-1 rack module, which must be the craziest wacky synth module I have heard.
My wish list is simple...the 2 items I wish I had never sold.
Casio CZ3000 awesome fat sounds.
Korg EX800 (Poly 800 in a box)...brilliant for fat bass sounds.
I've always lusted after a Jupiter 8 - best looking synth ever. A couple of years ago a local guy advertised his for £200 - needless to say it had gone by the time I tried to get it. He was the original owner and had no idea that they'd got valuable.
Never mind - I console myself with my minimoog, polymoog, Odyssey, Jupiter 4, and Juno 60

I sold this one a few years back for about £2500 iirc £200 would have been the bargain of the century!! Always loved the Juno 60 and those wonderful Moogs.Never mind - I console myself with my minimoog, polymoog, Odyssey, Jupiter 4, and Juno 60

The SY77 and SY99 have a totally different synth engine (FM & AWM) to the 35 and don;t have the vector synthesis either. They are superbly competent synths and once you get into programming them they can produce a huge variety of sounds. They can be picked up for very little nowadays. Superb key 'feel' too.I Bought the baby version Yamaha SY35 when it was released.

I'm going to keep my eyes open for a TG77/99 as I daren't get an SY version as I've already got 4 guitars, 4 amps and an electronic drum kit, plus the Roland D5 I mentioned earlier. I figure it would be easier to squeeze in a sound module rather than a whole other keyboard (I never seem to be able to sell older gear either, so it mounts up).
I'd forgotten all about the SY35 as that was more in my price range back then, thought I wouldn't have remembered the differences between it and the dearer 77/99. Not sure exactly how they all relate to the way my D5 works (I think it is a mixture FM synthesis and samples?), I just remember my friend's SY99 sounded so much more like real instruments, including brass.
