Gig Plans 2015
Discussion
Upcoming:
Download Festival, 12th - 14th June
AC/DC, 29th June, Glasgow
Ed Sheeran, 12th July, London
The Offspring, 25th August, Manchester
Leeds Festival (Metallica day), 30th August
Def Leppard and Whitesnake, 15th December, Sheffield
We saw Muse in Glasgow a few weeks ago too - and Skindred here in Aberdee, both gigs were amazing.
I'm desperate to see Bad Religion, but their tour is in early August and I just don't have the holidays to make it happen.

Muse in Newport on Thursday, Ben Howard in April and the Manics in June - Can't wait!!!! :-)
What did you think to Ben Howard? I took Ms Mantis to the Birmingham gig last week and we both left feeling very disappointed. Zero crowd interaction (apart from at the end when he told someone off for using their phone) and performed the most dreary and dull set possible - a lot of people stood around us agreed it was a pretty dull show. He only played a few from his first album and seemed completely uninterested in being there, almost like it was a chore. Not sure if me and the Missus have been spoilt having seen a lot of awesome gigs in smaller more intimate venues this year, as I guess you lose a lot of atmosphere at arena gigs, but I'll not be shelling out money to see him again. Don't get me started on the support act 'Aeroflynn' - I'd rather be the last link in the chain of a real-life human centipede experiment than listen to those dreary talentless s perform one more note.

Aeroflynn were absolutely atrocious and painful to watch and listen too - quite how they got the opportunity to join Ben on tour is a mystery to me. Most of the crowd were just chatting amongst themselves when they were playing and looking around as if to say 'are these guys for real!?'
Update from me, enjoyed all the gigs I've been to so far this year, Seasick Steve the highlight so far, the way the man strangles a tune out of old junk guitars is amazing

Just booked 2 tickets for Editors in Newcastle in October. I think they are the best band I've not seen live so really looking forward to it.
I've just booked to see them in London in October. It will be the third time I've seen them and both times before they put on a great show.ehonda said:

They are great live btw and if you haven't seen them I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've got tickets as well for Cambridge and Portsmouth, seen them lots in the past in venues from 450 capacities up to Alexandra Palace. Really lost interest after their last album and the original guitarist left, felt they had gone a bit too close to the awfulness that is Coldplay.

Yeah the last album was a bit dissapointing. I like it more than other die hard fans but it is a bit of a change of direction. I really like the track "the phone book" and there's another on there that's OK but the rest was a bit meh. The new track is very synth pop which a lot of indie bands seem to be doing. It's a bit of a tightrope. I remember Chapel Club coming out and I loved them, saw them 3 times until the 2nd album came out. It was awful and a total departure from what they had done before. They have split now but they also didn't have the histpry or following of Editors.
Anyway, I digress, really looking forward to seeing them live!

Off to Leeds to see Editors, very excited. Tried for Manchester but they sold out almost immediately (one for the Ticketmaster thread...)The new track is very synth pop which a lot of indie bands seem to be doing. It's a bit of a tightrope. I first saw them supporting Franz Ferdinand at the MEN Arena in 2006. I was taken with how the singer's voice seemed to fill the entire arena, vey impressive. First gig of theirs I saw was at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool which was absolutely bouncing.

Hey! Hello! supporting, which hopefully means some new HH material
Also, the first weekend in May didn't kill me as much as 5 gigs in 3 days probably should have.
