RH - for me - is the biggest English jazz guitar talent after Martin Taylor. All the more impressive that he's 26 and only been "doing" jazz stuff for a couple of years!

Doesn't get much better. Keyboard player is pretty much wasting his time here.Other than posting anything by Rory Gallagher, I guess we could throw Robin Trower into the mix. This sends shivers up my spine

Another lesson in attention to detail; this time for chord voicings, wide intervals, and guitar tone. Technically excellent as well :

Yes, an absolutely superb piece of music, Eric is one of the true greats, he's forgotten more about guitar playing than most guitarists will ever learn.Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
This is my favourite Cliffs of Dover performance, the chords at 04:38 are incredible.

Rick Graham does a great cover of CoD, very hand if you're looking to cop some licks from it as the picture quality is top notch. His feel is excellent, probably the best Eric Johnson impression I've heard tbh.

He does an excellent "Manhattan" too - what a piece this is, Eric was onto a winner when he penned this one:

His flamenco is top drawer too:

I wish I could achieve that kind of mastery over the guitar, where technique is so developed that the only limiting factor to creating music is imagination. Hell, I'd love to be at that stage in even one genre, but guys like Rick Graham, Shawn Lane etc are on another planet in being able to do it all pretty much flawlessly. The honesty and integrity in the music from giants like these is impeccable, you're just hearing raw, uncensored creativity, music without limitations. Incredible stuff.

Very much this. I certainly think that when listening to some of Vai's modal stuff; it's like an extra-sensory perception of how where all eight modes are - note for note - on the fretboard, and also how they can be mixed together at any time, in any rhythm, in any position. It's freaky.Talking of freaky, how about Martin Taylor (I mentioned him in a previous post)? Here playing syncopated bass lines at the same time as the main melody, at breakneck speed :
