I'm on the very same bus with a group of mates. Agree, a proper pain in the arse compared to the Madejski Stadium park and ride as used previously.
There's a chance it may change according to see when I emailed them to find out if we would be leaving from the westbound and returning to the eastbound.

My wife will drive me there on wednesday but no idea how I'll get back. I assume we can walk out the back and pick up a bus from outside the golf course.
I normally bank on wifecabs, but we've got a 14wk old sprog, so not only has she got the total hump that I'm going, she's in no mood to ferry me there or pick me up. TBH I might even end up going on Weds, setting up camp, then coming home Weds eve, returning again by motorbike on Saturday morning, giving me a more rapid means of return on Monday. A proper ball ache, but might restore domestic bliss!

Blimey. The things we do.

Where are you heading from on Wednesday? We have a spare seat going to the services from Thatcham if that's any use.

Thanks for the offer, appreciated. I'm Caversham way though. Alas the real issue is length away from home - I (somewhat naively) thought said kid would be sleeping through by now ('a newborn sleeps for 16hrs a day', says the book), so it's more a question of Weds-Mon going down like a lead balloon, but if I can just do a couple of nights that will be OK. I'm taking the pragmatic view that I've been many times, and am not that arsed about much on Sunday, so if I can wing Fri & Sat that will be good enough for me. SWMBO generally gives me a long leash to do car/bike things, I don't want to take the piss!

Course not, it's a busy time... amazed you can go at all. Well past that point with our kids and this is my first time at Glastonbury... they're jealous I'm going and can't quite believe that I didn't want to take them wink

Can anyone explain the reason for keeping the Glastonbury sticker on your windscreen for eternity?

a) to show you've been there, man!
b) because it goes on with the stickiest st known to man, and is a proper pain in the arse to get off.

Because of (b) I am sometimes unintentionally guilty of (a), but am also aware it makes me look like a bit of a try-hard tt. Inertia to overcome laziness to break out the missus' nail polish remover to get rid of it usually exceeds desire to not look a tt for about 3 months before I finally get round to sorting it.

The festival bus station, nr pedestrian gate A.

Trouble is that there is a near constant flow of bus/coach arrivals on Fri and Sat and, in order to keep the bus station flowing, the general admission queues are often held waiting to clear the bus queue. So you may have got there quicker by car, but I will just flounce in with all the other buswankers and bag my favourite camping spot. Tortoise and the hare you see. smile

Purely out of curiosity as I'm not attending Glastonbury this year; any news on whether the Foo Fighters are still playing?

It's still up in the air - two London gigs on Fri/Sat too, plus they are at Rock Werchter on the same weekend as Glasto. A lot of gigs for a man with a broken leg to do!

That said, Jessie J played the main stage (seated) with her leg in plaster a few years back, so it kind of sets a precedent for Dave not to be lame ... although half the fun of a FF's gig is him running about being the coolest man in rock.

Somewhere there's a promoter with a big headache!

Foo fighters are out, rather annoyed about that as I've not seen them before, was looking forward to it.

your tortoise bus will have to be bloody quick as:

a. I am driving down in a 997 turbo
b. I have a village car pass so will avoid all the traffic queue and drive direct to be my hired house
c. I am leaving on Thursday

Foos are amazing live, saw them a few years at wembley.

Is a shame, but better for DG in the long run to rest, bet hes devastated at letting down his fans.

Hopefully people at wembley will reschedule, and maybe give preference to Glastonbury ticket holders, to take up cancelled tickets.

Be interesting to see who replacement is... Taylor swift is in the country and free on that date, but the foo fans wont like her taking that slot, unless rudimental do the pyramid, and she does the other stage.

Not the news I wanted when I woke up - hope we get a decent chance to buy tickets for the rescheduled gigs

Have been waiting 12 years to see Foo Fighters - I can wait one more

Elvis Costello and Fleetwood are both around but both doing gigs on the Friday night frown
