Hello all,

I just want to know your music taste. What kind of music do you like most? Though different men and women have different taste and opinion.

Leave your opinion here. Thanks!

Rock/Folk/Country/Blues/ all sorts

Favourite artist: Jackson Browne (and I love all the stuff which came out of the extended Laurel Canyon family in the late 60s early 70s, good piece here about the scene.

Best artist seen live is a toss up between Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young

I was really into Heavy Metal in my teens and listen to Planet Rock regularly now I can get it on FM, having moved to Birmingham.

Not a lot of 'new' stuff excites me, but there are some good singer/songwriters and folk/country artists putting out decent songs. I'm more Radio 2 than Radio 1 these days.

Most of the time, Thrash (Overkill, Exodus, Metallica up to 1989, etc) - lots of good bands around at the moment if you take the time to look.

Death Metal (Obituary, Death, Entombed, Bolt Thrower) - Brutal & heavy

Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, etc) - Grew up on Metal, can't beat it

Prog/Psychadelia (Hawkwind, Gong, Jethro Tull, Dream Theater, Ozric Tentacles) - Great for a chilled day/evening in.

Slam/Brutal Death Metal/Grindcore (Carcass, Napalm Death, Desecration, Amputated, Cancerous Womb) - Can get samey after a while, but some truly brutal tracks really stand out.

Very much into the underground/unsigned/self signed scene and have become friends with some really great bands over the last few years. Regularly go to smaller gigs with 6-8 bands for no more than £15. I might have heard of one or two bands and be surprised by another unknown.

My musical tastes over the years have been very varied.

I grew up in the 80's so listened to electronic synth music. (Fade to Grey was the first song I'd heard that really took hold of me.) I like a lot of the modern synth such as Junior Boys.

I then went through a wierd acid house, hi nrg, dance phase leading up to the Madchester scene stuff. I loved the Trip Hop music coming out of Bristol but then I lost interest in indie when the Brit Pop cr@p came out. Suede, Pulp, etc. No thanks.

This is when I retured to the electronic influences and got really into Future Sound of London, Richard H Kirk, Sven Vath, etc. (Electronic chill scene.)

Now I listen to a broad range from Jazz, Indie, heavy rock with some chill out, electronica and synth thrown in.

Whatever I listen to, I always seem to squeeze in some Editors, even if it's just one track. Can't wait for the new album.

Classic Rock would be my favourite type , favourite bands are Queen , Led Zep , AC/DC , Metallica , Guns 'n' Roses , Thin Lizzy , Aerosmith , Black Sabbath , The Who etc etc

Don't mind other types of music but most modern music does my head in and I'm only 27!

43 years old, pretty much stuck in the 80s.

Love electronica - Depeche Mode, New Order, Jean Michel Jarre with a bit of new romantic thrown in - Spandau, Duran, etc.

Love Royksopp as well, although not 80s.

Major pop monkey, but my likes also range from The Cult, The Cure, Sisters Of Mercy so does vary a bit.

Modern stuff? Like Hurts, Paolo Nutini.

I guess my recent (past 2 years) gig history speaks volumes - Del Amitri, Mike & The Mechanics, Hue & Cry, Level 42, Squeeze, Madness, Spandau Ballet, The Christians, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Adam Ant.

Big Jackson Browne fan myself. First time I see him was at Glastonbury in 1982 so I was bit late catching on to his greatness but saying that he still played a lot of tracks off of Hold Out which was a great album especially the tribute to Lowell George 'Of Missing Persons.
The Laurel Canyon scene spawned some great music from the likes JB and Joni Mitchell. It was what inspired a lot of us bikers in the 70s here in the UK, utopia being cruising along the highway in California listening to the west coast sound.

I am mainly into country, blues, and rock. Bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Zac Brown Band, Pink Floyd, Joe Bonamassa, Kip Moore, Lady Antebellum, Dr Feelgood, Brooks and Dunn, Cadillac Three, Dire Straits, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Roy Buchanan, Drive By Truckers, and Eric Church make up most of what I listen to but I do occasionally like some heavier stuff like Metallica and Black Sabbath.

Apologies if that is a bit vague but it should give you a rough idea! I have music on pretty much all the time - in the car, at home, while out for a walk, so I get through a fair amount smile

For me, it'd be easier to list genres I don't get on with :

Country & Western
R & B
Bebop jazz
Chart pop

For stuff I like? I'm just as likely to listen to a J.S. Bach partita as I would something by Soundgarden or an Oakenfold trance mix.

I've seen him half a dozen times at least, lastly at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham last year. Still great, just straining a little for the high notes.

Another vote for Jackson Browne here. Plus Neil Young, Joni, Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Flying Burrito Brothers and Tom Petty.

I play bass in a band doing all original material and we take a lot of cues from the West Coast sound...would be interested in any feedback!

Well done, a pleasant change from rock bands doing covers of Sweet Child Of Mine and Paranoid which seems to be the norm.

I don't like the singer's accent. (that's the only criticism I could muster)

Eclectic but I like stuff I've not heard before.

Mostly classical as the genre is huge but enjoy some pop, ska, metal, dub, drum'n'bass, funk, zef, dance, jazz, folk.

Only thing I can't stand is the ste that is modern day R&B.

From a base of 90's indie (Wonder Stuff, Blur, Nirvana etc) lots of guitar based things but I like a good melody and lyrics.
Tend to avoid electronica/dance type stuff but most other stuff will be considered.
