Apparently she's now more famous than someone who was in the Biggest Band Of All Time and is One Of The Most Famous Men On The Planet.

She is clearly a nut job but has a point.

He has lead a very gifted life for just being involved in the creation of some music. In fact he didn't even write a couple of cool songs he was simply good friends with a bloke who wrote a few good songs.

Look at his work since Lennon died and its pretty obvious who was the creative force in their partnership.

I always thought if you looked at Lennon songs and it proved the better writer was McCartney. each to his own.

Weapons Grade!

Moving on.

I have not been much of a fan of McCartney, but have recently given some of his solo stuff another go.

RAM
Red Rose Speedway
Wild Life
Band on the run.

Whilst not uniformly brilliant, there really is some very good stuff on every one. Wild Life in particular, just sounds like he is experimenting.

Not convinced about later stuff, but these are pretty solid albums.

DB6? I assume that is a code-name for Heather?

I think they were the biggest band of all time, with possibly the greatest catalogue, making possibly the biggest impact on the world, and the most important musicians since 1960.

I also think he's the greatest living Englishman.

I doubt anyone goes up to Heather Mills in the street.

I can't stand Piers Morgan or the Wail, but this piece sums up the lying fantasist for me:

You think some bloke who happened to be part of a group of friends who made some nice sounding music 50 years ago and has done little of note since is the greatest living person in England?

I certainly don't but to dismiss him like that is just silly. Even taking the Beatles out of the below, that's some record.

McCartney is listed in The Guinness Book Of Records as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history, with sales of 100 million singles and 60 gold discs. McCartney has achieved twenty-nine number-one singles in the US, twenty of them with The Beatles, the rest with Wings and as a solo artiste. McCartney has been involved in more number-one singles in the United Kingdom than any other artist under a variety of credits, although Elvis Presley has achieved more as a solo artiste. McCartney has achieved 24 number-ones in the UK: solo (1), Wings (1), with Stevie Wonder (1), Ferry Aid (1), Band Aid (1), Band Aid 20 (1) and The Beatles (17). McCartney is the only artiste to reach the UK number one as a soloist ("Pipes of Peace"), duo ("Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder), trio ("Mull of Kintyre", Wings), quartet ("She Loves You", The Beatles), quintet ("Get Back", The Beatles with Billy Preston) and as part of a musical ensemble for charity (Ferry Aid). In America, McCartney reached number-one with 29 singles: solo (1), Wings (5), with Stevie Wonder (1), with Michael Jackson (1), with Linda McCartney (1), with the Beatles (20); he was also the composer of "A World Without Love," a #1 single for Peter and Gordon. McCartney's song "Yesterday" is the most covered song in history with more than 3,500 recorded versions[1] and has been played more than 7,000,000 times on American TV and radio, for which McCartney was given an award.[2] After its 1977 release the Wings single "Mull of Kintyre" became the highest-selling record in British chart history, and remained so until 1984.[3] (Three charity singles have since surpassed it in sales; the first to do so, in 1984, was Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?", whose participants included McCartney.)

Check the size of his Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_McCartney

Check how much stuff Wiki stuff there is on the The Beatles, it just goes on and on. Check the stuff on YouTube, and check the impact they made back then and how many people still want to talk about it today.

He closed Candlestick Park with a well received concert last year, at the age of 72 playing for over 2.5 hours and causing traffic chaos in the area. http://www.mercurynews.com/music/ci_26342045/revie...

Check the size of the Wiki content on The Beatles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles

As it says on one of the many pages, "The Beatles' influence on rock music and popular culture was, and remains, immense." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles%27_influe...

I have to admit I didn't realise he had that much success as a solo artist. In my mind he is still the bloke who did the frog song!

Regardless of how many traffic jams he caused he is still an popular entertainer and nothing more. To suggest he is the greatest living Englishman is ridiculous.

If we were to judge them by their impact on society then Tim Berners-Lee would have to rank much higher.

Paul M'cCartney is THE greatest songwriter England has ever produced, he has sold more records worldwide, and anyone who dismisses his output since 1969, hasn't REALLY listened to ALL his albums since.

I accept there has been a few turkeys, Frog song etc, but these are in the minority.

In my opinion, he ranks along the likes of Winston Churchill, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Laurence Olivier as one of the truly great Englishmen.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I know everyone loves to bash Heather Mills.

However she went to do an interview she didn't want to do and all they want to talk about is her ex after a bitter break up. Would you be cool about that? or would you spout off?

Depends how much class you have. You praise macca - why she married him - and move on to her exploits.

1. No, you're wrong, but I suspect I may be wasting my time trying to explain. You may have to wait until you're older to fully appreciate, as indeed did I. There will of course, be many worthy contenders for the title and we're all entitled to our opinions, (but some of us may have been around longer and can therefore have a greater appreciation) but to dismiss the worthy ones as ridiclous, is of course, ridiculous.

2. The impact of the Beatles happened long before the internet. I remember life before the internet, and although the internet is great, life before wasn't too bad at all tbh. If we'd never had it we would not miss it (though it was always going to come, to be invented by somebody somewhere) whereas great music moves people, for a long time (hundreds of years in the case of classical music).
