Hope his back is better. Last time I saw him he had to play sitting down the entire performance. Was obviously in some pain.
He's a bit like Dylan in that he hates to do his greatest hits.
A Google suggests the DS stuff as Romeo & Juliet, telegraph Rd, sultans of swing, so far away and local hero theme. He's a bit like Dylan in that he hates to do his greatest hits.

Saw him in Manchester last weekend.
Came on about 7.40, played til 10.15ish
How was he , i'm going to Birmingham to see him SaturdayCame on about 7.40, played til 10.15ish
Very laid back, didn't realise how funny he could be, quite a dry wit.
He stood up so I guess his back is better.
As for DS stuff, he played R&J, Telegraph Rd, SOS, So Far Away & Local Hero.
The band were excellent too.
He seemed keen to play DS stuff from what he said, and they did get the biggest cheers of the night.
It's only recently that I've realised I've turned into my dad.
I'm of an age where "Money for Nothing" was my first introduction to Dire Straits and music videos / MTV
But I realise now how good Brothers In Arms (song as much as album) is, and I love Local Hero.
Anyway, not going to see him live but absolute respect for doing such a good (long) show.
Puts to shame the "pop stars" who tour one album and end up on stage for 40 minutes.

Just arrived back from the Birmingham concert really enjoyed it but was surprised by just how similar the set list was from last year.
Anyone spot my red lotus europa in the south car park?
I'm honestly not having a go, but I've partaken of wine so may not be at my most diplomatic.Anyone spot my red lotus europa in the south car park?
He's had a very long career, how much new material has there been in the last year?

A whole albums worth that he's just released. Here's his setlist from the London gig:
Broken Bones
Corned Beef City
Privateering
Father and Son
Hill Farmer's Blues
Kingdom of Gold
Skydiver
Laughs and Jokes and Drinks and Smokes
I Used to Could
Romeo and Juliet
Sultans of Swing
Mighty Man
Postcards from Paraguay
Marbletown
Speedway at Nazareth
Telegraph Road
Encore:
So Far Away
Wherever I Go
Going Home
As above he has released roughly an album every year for past few years which is why i was surprised (not dissapointed though) at the similarity of set from the privateering tour.
I dont think there was one dire straits song played which wasnt played last time with possible exception of sultans of swing.
Im just nit picking as was a really good concert but i really wanted to hear brothers in arms and that wasnt played either time same with calling elvis, and was just hoping that there would be a chance that ther older material would be rotated.
In fairness its probably my fault as i bought the concert download from last year and play it quite a bit which is why i am very familiar with the songs done.

Wish I could have seen him
Alchemy was one of the first 'records' I owned
Probably the greatest musical influence to me - and certainly inspired my guitar playing right up to the current day
Many years ago I saw him in Manchester - took a friend who wasn't a fan per se, but he came out converted - said it was the most musical gig he'd ever been to.
