With all the thousands of hours of podcasts, dj sets, live gigs and enough cheap storage to listen to your own purchases a thousand times over. Why the fk are you still listening to radio thats plays crap music?

"Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman - no BHP figures or details of make, model or modifications.
hehe

You may have missed the whole point of that song.
Nah, its a miserable whiny load of old bks, its like a hard luck story on X Factor made into a song.

I hate it on every level, and I mean, they live in a bloody hostel but have a fast car, its a case of priorities, its probably a leased white Audi diesel biggrin

My wife starts gagging if she hears "Perfect" by Fairground Attraction.

Whatever the song is where Beyonce is banging on about 'putting a ring on it'.

I only really listen to classic FM but anything that sounds like you're walking around Warwick Castle or reminds of a Hymn.

I also quite like a fair few of the songs mentioned so far paperbag

It's normally the DJ's that get me to switch over rather than the songs, as I like to listen to music n the car. My Mrs always switches it to Radio 2 if I'm giving her a lift home form work, to a show that has people phoning in and droning on for ages. Why the hell would I be interested in listening to the Smith family driving down the M62 to visit Aunt Mabel for her 63rd birthday? Just play some frigging music!
I know the show you mean, Friday nights?

I've been listening to a lot of radio in the car over the last 20 years and one thing bugs the st out of me.

When you get a request or that thing where someone chooses their favourite half an hour of music you always get stereotypical choices.

What I mean is that Cynthia from Surrey will pick some old st like Celine Dion, a pack of girls in the car on their way to a hen weekend will pick something st like It's raining bd Men or the Pointer Sisters. Meanwhile Dave from Bolton will pick something awesome.

Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing and Jay-Z/Linkin Park - Numb/Encore.

It was played at a friends funeral, and still hits hard now.

All the RnB, rap, whiney mincey, pretend hard gangsta bkss, i.e white kids pretending to be black. Slightly brown kids pretending to be super black and their struggle in the ghetto or hood.
Going back a few years Vanilla Ice was on some chat show, the next guests were Hale and Pace, one of whom commented something like "there goes a guy with real avenue cred" hehe

Because in between the crap you get some good stuff, if you just listen to your own collection you never find any new stuff. Although I do tend to listen to mp3s or podcasts in the car.

Anything by The Pretenders, UB40, The Specials, Elvis Costello or Dexy's.
80's tosh
I disagree with all bar UB40.
+1 UB40 the only duffer in that list. The thing is you generally only get to hear the same few over played songs from each.

Yes, spot on. It's so wishy-washy, hollow and generic. Never heard a more inappropriately named band. Tosh.

That "No place I'd rather be" song by Clean Bandit. Liked it when it first came out but after the 10,000,000 play I switch it off instantly.

Also "Heaven is a place on earth" by Belinda Carlisle. furious

Worst song ever.
No, his one before that was much worse. The lyrics were just ste and meant nothing.
Yeah because he really nailed it with 'clap your hands if you feel like a room without a roof' - what??

True, it's a shame people become known for just one song.

I have lived my life up until this point blissfully unaware that such an abortion existed.

Now, the best I can hope for is not to ever hear it.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Absolute 80s have a guarantee that they wont repeat the same song in a 24 hr period, it isnt that big a deal really is it when you have a whole decades worth of music to go at.
I feel your pain, there is just something I cannot stand about that song, mainly that they're claim to be champions of rock with all the believability of your mum doing drunken karaoke. Capital is utterly awful and seems to be aimed solely at people who hang round on council estates waiting for someone to mug, luckily there's only one person in our office who likes it (amusingly, the 30 year old white guy who still lives with his parents). Heart is tolerable but my current pet peeve is Sam Smith. How his dismal wailing about his lost love in every damn song made him so popular is a mystery.

And another

Thin Lizzy, Jailbreak: "tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town."

Errrr, just a wild stab in the dark, but I'm guessing it'll be at the jail.
