The P90s sound great, new to me but a lot stronger than I imagined them to be. It is the 50's tribute, basic and raw. The action seems higher than what I am used to, and appreciate that it is fresh from the box but I do love the way it feels.
The neck is nice and chunky, nice to have a natural feel to it and not a poly finish!

For a Les Paul I'm sold on Seymour Duncans, JB in the bridge and Jazz (don't let the name put you off) in the neck.

Although I've branched out a bit with the two I have now. The Standard is about to have Vanson '59 Alnico V's installed, while the Custom is waiting for Wilkinson Hots. When both are completed, I'll report back.

I've just bought a riff raff (bridge) and a mule (neck) from bare knuckle for my LP, I'm also removing the stock pcb and replacing it with a Jimmy Page 50's wiring type full switching wired harness in an effort to be able to roll off the volume and not kill the tone. Will report back at some point.

speak to Ash at Oil City Pickups - he has a great range and can probably give you a bit of advice too

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on them, I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I don't like the Super 57 in my Les Paul. The Classic 57 in the neck is lovely, but the Super 57 is a bit thin and almost gutless for a bridge pickup IMO.

Got a JB Junior in my Strat, it sounds great.

Interesting, I have a Strat scratchplate with a JB junior in the bridge, waiting for me to buy a suitable Strat to install it in.

Oil City. Cheap ish and very good. Very good indeed.
We have a winner!

Just ordered the scrap yard dog + for the neck, and NightFighter for the bridge. Also ordered the wiring harness from Ash to really freshen it up. Can't wait to get it fitted!

I have a JB in the neck of three of my guitars (Epi LP, Gibson SG and Ibanez RG).

Compared to the original pickups in all three guitars, the JB has more clarity, more output and in the LP if I pick through the strings of a distorted E chord it's possible to hear all the strings chime musically together and blend into a very rich, well defined sound. It's the opposite of the muddiness of the standard pickups.
