Pretty much do not bother any more since the secondary market shysters got in on the act. A pox on the lot of em.
You just have to get online right as the big name tickets go on sale.

I'll often take my meal break at work when the big name tickets go online to make sure I get them.
but even then not much of a chance in my experience - but if you're a tout, ooops sorry official ticket re-seller (or what bks stub-hub/viagogo etc call themselves these days)...

How much is it to go to a 90 minute game of football these days?

My only issue is with the ticket resellers. People say that classical music is elitist but it's far cheaper for most concerts/operas than a big rock gig or footy game, and when I couldn't go to a concert over the summer I rang the box office with a couple of hours to go and got a full refund.

Compare this with trying to get a last minute refund for a gig at the O2 recently. And don't get me started on the £25 parking (and that's if you book in advance).

Start hunting out new bands who charge less.
Good call. I was in a small club last night, three bands for £7 entry. Two of them were quality.
