James at Kentish Town Forum tonight
Manic Street Preachers - The Albert Hall on 16/5
I Am Kloot - Royal Festival Hall on 13/6
Glastonbury
Lionel Ritchie at The O2 on 2/7
Latitude
End Of the Road Festival
Lloyd Cole at The Union Chapel on 3/10
Richmond Fontaine at The Garage on 21/10

Not doing Reading Festival for the first time in 18 years on account of a totally piss poor line-up!

Not sure of the dates but.

Burt Bacarach and Josh Stone
Joe Bonamassa
Buddy Guy
Roy Harper
Madeline Peyroux

Seems like a good selection to me.

Wednesday nights at the Ritz were a staple in my youth. Just enough time to recover for the weekend hehe

I never really clicked with The Fall but saw them live a few times in order to ogle Brix Smith wink I do appreciate them a lot more now.

Hope you have a great time, but beware. I saw The Levellers play at Manchester International a few years back and for some reason I was gobsmaked at how old they looked.

Say hello to the old girl for me, The Ritz not Brix.
We I have to say The Fall where much better than I thought they would be. MES is still mental and the band were powerful and tight.

Was much better than I thought it would be as although I enjoy their records some of the life performances I have seen have been shambolic.
Sorry for the late reply,

My wife and I were trying work out what particular drug MES had been on and we settled on "two of everything"
The scary thing is probably none - he's just made that way hehe

Glad you enjoyed it!

Cheers fella I'll have a looksy.

So last night was great. First band were called Eat Me. They were really good to be fair. Not sure how to class them tbh... they had moments that felt pop-punk, but some of the riffs were proper rock stuff and there was even some dual guitar stuff like Thin Lizzy - with some funny lyrics to go along... don't seem to take things too seriously. Good fun.

Black Foxxes - proper rock band these guys. Some lovely guitar work and vocals... drummer was superb lots of lovely little rolls and fills. Highly recommend... but there's not much out there to listen to. Album end of August.

Milk Teeth - put on a great show, got the crowd going (crowd surfing a tiny room with maybe 50 people in it), spot on playing as well. Very cool kinda "new-grunge" stuff... they are listed as punk which I guess fits their up-tempo stuff.

Black Foxxes are pretty good.

Look up ltnt, they were support in London and they were described as being a bit shouty, they weren't imagine chris cornell fronting queens of the stone age and your on the right path.

Thanks to your post, I got tickets for me, Mrs Champers and our two daughters this morning for The Copper Rooms, Warwick University on 17th September, shortly after they were released for sale at 9 am today; so genuinely, thank you, as I haven't really been keeping my eye out much for concerts this year thumbup

If he is as good as when I took the then 15 year old eldest daughter to see him at The Assembly in Leamington in July 2014 (I hadn't seen him since 2004) then I'll be happy.

Thought I'd go and see ABC and the Human League (with Blancmange, who I liked back then, but I'd never seen) later this year, but BOTH gigs are ALL SEATER!!!!

WTF?!?!?!!?

I know we're not as young as we used to be, but who the hell wants to sit down at a gig like this?

If I want to sit down I'll go to the bloody Opera!!!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.......

Well B*****cks to that then, I'll save myself £200 and go diving for a weekend instead - See, promoters, I'm old enough to like these bands, but still fit enough for a bit of mild exercise now and then!!!!! biggrin

This year will be my 15th Reading, so catching up to you! biggrin

I just looked at the line up and you're right, it is a bit st. I'm going to have to research a few unknown bands and hopefully find a gem or 3.
