went to see nathanial rateliff and the nightsweats at the barrowlands on Saturday night and they were excellent. I bought the album off the back of a couple of decent singles getting radio play, then saw them on tfi Friday, but in the run up to the gig I was starting to wonder if I was that fussed about the gig. but very glad I didn't back out. great gig. they play very well together just playing good music.
I saw them in Manchester, and was dissapointed. I'm not sure Nataniel is strong enough to have his name on the tin, I don't think he's realised his much increased popularity is because of the band. He should let them in more, instead of making them stand back in worship.

Probably the last one for me this year will be Pete Tong's Dance Anthems with a full orchestra on 1st Dec. Some fantastic vocalists in support too so should be good.

I'm seeing him at Reading Hexagon tonight. Crappy soulless venue, but I'm looking forward to hearing his latest album live.

saw biffy clyro last night at the hydro in Glasgow and they were awesome!! great mix of tracks from all the albums and the crowd were in good form. played for over 2hrs too which was pretty surprising.

also was my first time seated at the hydro (no standing tickets available when I booked) and have to say I quite enjoyed sitting. was there with the GF and she found this much more enjoyable than being standing.

now for alterbridge tomorrow night!

A year after buying the tickets......tomorrow night I will see The Cure. And on Friday again!

Last night''s Manchester gig was unusually short (2 hours). Not sure if it was the lacklustre crowd or his voice was going,,,,I'll find out tomorrow.

Was at Friday's gig - they didn't disappoint. Played for just under 3 hours, 31 songs

Id never heard of the support before - The Twilight Sad. - but was very impressed by then too.

It didn't seem it - honestly couldn't work out how time went by so quickly. I guess when there's a back catalogue going back 40 years it's easy to play for that long.
They varied the set lists a lot from night to night too.

It really didn't seem that long at all. The previous time I saw them play in London, the 2 gigs I saw where 40 and 41 songs respectively, if anything, last weeks gigs seemed a bit short to me. biggrin

I love them though and if I didn't know their music that well, I'm sure I wouldn't want them to play that long. A good mate of mine saw them a few years ago and thought that they were st. He didn't recognise that many songs so got a bit bored.

Next time they play in London, I'm going to go to every gig. It'll be a little wait until then, I'm sure.

It was 24 years since I last saw them - don't think I can leave it that long to see them again!

Embarrassed to say that I didn't see them on either night due to meeting mates beforehand and sorting out tickets for them. I had listened to them years ago when their debut album came out and they didn't move me.

I'm going to try again and see if my mind's changed, as I heard great things about them. They must have been on cloud 9 this year with their world tour.

I've only got André Rieu to "look forward to" for this year now. Bit gutted the CBSO aren't performing over the Christmas break this year.

Missed out on taking my daughter to see Melanie Martinez as Martinez canceled most of her UK dates due to illness, so I got lucky there.

Best gig of the year has to be PJ Harvey, massive set played almost without any breaks. Managed to do 15 gigs and concerts this year if you count End of the Road festival as 1 gig, so quite pleased with that as we regularly go to the theater and cinema as well.

Seen Twilight Sad twice now and although they impressed first time (supporting Editors) they were in a different league on Saturday night. Looks like the tour with The Cure has really brought them on, fantastic band and can't wait to see them again.

I've seen The Cure well in to double figures now over the last 30 years including some really special gigs but Saturday night was definitely up there with the best. Age certainly hasn't had an effect on them and 3 hours always flies by watching them live. I too really wish I'd gone for all 3 nights, bit obsessive I know but absolutely worth it in their case.

Hoping they get a new album out next year along with some of the unreleased older "stuff" that's been promised for a while now. For me Saturday reinforced why they remain my favourite band, absolutely brilliant.

Some of their songs do remind me a bit of Editors..

I'm jealous, trying to work it out I think I've seen The Cure 9 times(4times in 2014) but that's only since 2006. I missed a few gigs from 2000 but before that I lived in a far away land where they have never played. I started listening to them in 1985 or so, would loved to have seen them back in the day.

Yeah, it would make sense for them to finally release the album, and the old material. I think he's said that they have 30 songs that are ready to be released.

I don't think 3 nights is excessive. It's all relative though as some people on Twitter going from city to city, and country to country.....is excessive to me. smile

Anyway, back on topic....gigs lined up before the end of the year :

Piano Wire. - 15 Dec Metropolis Studio, Chiswick. A free gig next week, worth going to if you're in London. You have to register beforehand.

Fields of the Nephilim - 21 Dec - Their annual pre Christmas gig. One of my all time favourite bands..
