Gig plans 2016

Reading Festival on Sunday, day ticket only.
I live in walking distance of the site, so with one exception of my brother getting married, I have been to every Reading for the last 18 years, sight unseen of the line-up.
This year however I'm really struggling to find something to like on the bill, so have saved the dosh we'd normally spend on two weekend tickets.
I guess it's me getting older. The line-up in 2010 was outsstanding, but has steadily been going downhill for me since. I know I'll be crawling the walls on Friday wanting to be there but just can't justify the £££ on a full weekend ticket and copious amounts of booze!

Reading Sunday...
Coheed and Cambria - so good
Cage The Elephant - not that I've listened to them but they toured with 'tallica I think... so might be okay
Black Foxxes
The Pit Stage seems to be a pop punk fest...
Third Eye Blind for some nostalgia!
Tonight Alive are okay and my mate loves Deaf Havana
Skip Arcane Roots... good on cd boring live.

I can relate to there not being much on that I'm mad about. Each year there seems to be fewer bands that I really care about. When I look back at the 90s, most of them I still love now.
I'll make the most of it..and still have a great time.

Coheed and Cambria were excellent this week.
They are such a brilliant live band. I've seen them 5 times now.2006 Download Festival
2008 Kerrang! Tour Cardiff Uni Great Hall
2013 The Afterman Tour Cardiff Uni Solus
2015 Hevy Festival
2016 Color Before The Sun Tour Cardiff Uni Great Hall
Superb every damn time. I'll never tire of singing the woah woahs at the end of Welcome Home or "man your own jackhammers!" for IKSSE

Faithless at Brixton on Thursday were fantastic, as were the crowd. The £4.95 a pint, not so much.
Was there too, had tickets upstairs as my companion is 5'2" and only got to see the light show over the crowd last time. Good to see them in a small(ish) venue. Then Reading on Friday, a few good and a few not so good, disappointed that Maverick Sabre only had half an hour as he was only just getting going. Went to the Pit a couple of times to watch bands that I normally wouldn't entertain. This is the upside for me as I can tick a few boxes that wouldn't normally get ticked.
Christine & The Queens in November - Brixton
Gary Numan September - Oxford
Rag N Bone Man - Brixton
Gorgon City - Brixton
Underworld - Alexandra Palace - March

Was at Biffy Clyro last night at Bellahouston park in Glasgow.
Support came from Fall Out Boy, Wolf Alice and Cage the Elephant.
Superb gig, stayed dry, Biffy were on top form as well.
Would definitely recommend seeing them guys (tour dates just announced)

Sadly we didn't make it in on time to hear the xcerts but apparently they were good, will check out their material.Surprised how good Fall Out Boy were, not a fan but they have so many 'big' hits.
Biffy were just superb, seriously contemplating the Aberdeen gig.

There's a Fall Out Boy tribute band called Fell Out Boy, my friend who is a big fan of the original says they're very good and I enjoyed seeing them. In fact, after going to a tribute band festival last year I'm a big fan of a lot of the tribute bands, getting to hear the music of big bands live without the insane price tag.Anyway, this year all I've got is Frank Turner in December and some random Jazz thing this weekend as there's a jazz festival on in Norwich.

At Reading Festival this Sunday just gone, my wife's 18yo niece and her mate had a massive drunken hissy fit and stomped off in different directions .... all because one wanted to see Fall Out Boy and the other didn't!
Irony of it made me laugh anyway.
Did the other want to see The 1975?Irony of it made me laugh anyway.
