Jeez WTF is going on .
Unfortunately, there's a lot of "legendary" musicians around this age, late 60's/early 70's.

Macca, Jagger, Keef, Planty etc.

Age is catching up with them.

Yes - the bell is tolling for many of that generation now.

Can't we have this in the "News" section?

Earls Court 2000.
One of the best nights of my life.
There's a very good concert shaping up up there.

Well this one sucks the most for me so far, with all due respect to the other artists to have passed away recently.

Eagles on the way to work this morning it is.

Yep.

One Of These Nights, then Life In The Fast Lane, then Take It To The Limit and by reaching the car park at work I should be on the masterpiece that is Hotel California.

Also been announced that Dallas Taylor, drummer for Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young has died, aged 66.

What a dreadful year and we are not past the first month!

Vocals - David Bowie (69)

Guitar - Glenn Frey (67)

Bass - Lemmy (69)

Drums - Dale Griffin (67)

Keyboards - ???

If I was Rick Wakeman (67), I'd be wrapping myself in bubble wrap and bolting the doors.

Seriously though another big loss, although The Eagles were never one of my favourite bands. frown
If you look at some of the ages of a lot of famous people who had 'interesting' 70s lifestyles, I think the Reaper is going to be a very busy boy this year.

These guys thumbed their nose at the reaper in the 70s. I hope he doesn't take revenge -

So many family memories (mainly car journeys smile.) listening to The Eagles and then buying my own cassette of theirs, which I listened to many many times! Ageless music.

My Dad is 67 these recent losses all of his age have really shaken me up. I don't want to overthink it or be melodramatic but it has just been an eye opener frown.

A very sad loss
Have to agree with this - Bowie was the same age as my mother, and Frey the same age as my Dad. Really starts to make you think.

Saw the Eagles on their farewell 1 tour at Twickenham about 10 years.

Glenn dedicated lying eyes to his first wife 'plaintiff' and said his 2nd life wife always referred to take it to the limit as the credit card song

Fantastic memories

Yes, will be carnage over the next 10-20 years for classic rock lovers, all the pioneers of rock and pop will be likely passing on at some stage. Unlikely to have such a generation of great artists ever again who have had such an influence on genres and inspiration for young musicians.

Ozzy & Sabbath, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, rest of the Beatles,The Stones, rest of Queen, Elton John, ELO, Deep Purple, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC + a shedload of Americans too - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Dylan, Springsteen etc.

We'll be left with Bieber, David Guetta and Nickelback.

Another great, especially when you consider who else he worked with and inspired.

I'd echo an earlier comment.

This is news not just music, or otherwise the Bowie thread should be only in here as well. I think Kinky got this one wrong!
