Glastonbury 2016
Discussion
Might as well kick off this year's thread, as I am going again
News so far:
ELO - for the Sunday afternoon chill out slot - quite looking forward to that, will take me back to my childhood trips in the parents' car singing along to Mr Blue Sky etc
Muse - saw them in 2010 and they were excellent, may choose to see something else this time round but they are a reliably great live band
PJ Harvey - big fan of her although not sure how she will come across live
Coldplay - stadium filler, never seen live but whilst not a massive fan again will be a big and quality performance

and Adele
hmmm - well it saves me the usual who-to-watch clash conundrum, usually good stuff on some of the other stages
Rumour has it New Order are headlining the other stage on the Saturday whilst Adele is on. I don't really like either, but at least that's one alternative. hmmm - well it saves me the usual who-to-watch clash conundrum, usually good stuff on some of the other stages
Personally I don't like Adele much and probably won't go to see her set, but as arguably the biggest female artist in the world at the moment and one that hasn't done a big festival ever before, I think it's a pretty strong booking. Coldplay and (particularly) Muse on the other hand...

James just announced to open Other Stage on the Friday
I'm pretty chuffed they're playing, but 11am on the Friday morning isn't when I'd like to have seen them - bit early for a boozed up singalong! Fingers crossed they do better than The Charlatans last year in the same slot, they were dire. None of the headliners are getting me particularly excited, but there's heaps on there I want to see and a fair few I've never heard of which has the potential to lead to the discovery of some good stuff I wouldn't otherwise have heard.
In no particular order, I'm chuffed about Lumineers, Madness, Wolf Alice (saw them play last week and they were very good), ZZ Top, ELO, Earth Wind and Fire, Grimes, Sigur Ros, Carl Cox, Gregory Porter (saw his set on West Holts last year, perfect afternoon in the sunshine music) and LCD Soundsystem. Plus there's heaps still yet to be announced and the rumours that Radiohead will appear somewhere over the weekend aren't going away...

ELO Sunday afternoon presumably?
Yep, praying for good weather (as every year) as Mr Blue Sky on a hungover Sunday afternoon would be be perfectmantis84 said:
Indeed it will! Apart from Mr Blue Sky I don't know much ELO stuff that I'm aware of - any pointers on where to start?
my knowledge is gleaned from the back seat of my parents car listening to their album from the tape deck when about 7 years old so I am no expert!but these are probably the most well known (other) tracks

Sweet Talkin Woman - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LnPnbhyjGc
Livin Thing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJuV5TyFy5M
if you are on Spotify or similar flick through the best of album

Anyone else completely underwhelmed by that line up ?
Not as excited as I could be, but there's plenty on there that I'm looking forward to. Spent a bit of time yesterday checking out the ones I've never heard of and discovered some really good stuff - Grimes, Floating Points and Ezra Furman in particular. Also worth remembering that it's only a small part of the lineup - loads more acts to be announced yet.
