I like ELO but I'm really not that keen on Coldplay. They've done some good songs but I find CM a bit to earnest if I'm honest.

Everyone loves ELO...it's the law. Their fanbase covers all generations. Simply timeless excellence.

Coldplay on now. Another great act. Not sure why some people seem to not like them?
Its a case of thinking you're cool by disliking mainstream bands i find

They're outstanding, unreal how many good songs they've produced. You'll struggle to find anyone who can put on a headline show like these guys
Nothing to do with trying to be cool, I'm far too old for that, but I'm a fully-signed-up card-carrying Coldplay hater. Yes, I do in fact own THAT t-shirt. And I'm someone who loves music and who has spent 40 years regularly going to live gigs. Music is probably the one thing I couldn't live without.

Their music is actually pretty good. I'm watching their set as I write this. I just simply can't abide CM. My abhorrence almost knows no bounds. He is such a fking gimp. If they sacked him I might actually start to like them.

Not a fan either but fairly enjoying this.

Think the choice of headliners this year has been a bit safe.

I don't think I know enough about Chris Martin to say whether I like him or not, I certainly don't hate him, got no reason to. What do you know about him to make you loathe him so much?!

Forget Coldplay, the gloriously reunited LCD Soundsystem are delivering a masterclass on The Other Stage right now. More glow sticks than glowing wristbands.

Seeing as you're an old-timer Bex, I'll bite biggrin Where do I start…

- his general persona when interviewed. Some would say he's naturally shy, but it just doesn't work/wash with me
- the infamous radio interview where he simply refused to talk and walked out of the studio
- he makes Colin Hunt (of the Office Trolley) look, well, really rather cool
- conscious uncoupling. No, just no.
- the way he moves. Ok, I'm a dad-dancer. But I don't do that on stage in front of thousands of people
- the way he looks. Ok, I'm no Adonis. But if there was ever a candidate for "people you'd never get tired of punching in the face"…
- the ohhhhh-so-lazy lyric writing. Para Para Para di-i-i-i-ise? Please…..

Yes, yes, he's been with Gwynnie, he's rich, he's bizarrely popular, yes, I'm dos too the way through a rather good bottle of rioja, etc etc. But still.

ETA: PS: He's now lying on his back singing "when I ruled the world" 'nuff said?

Fair enough. Though I think a lot of those could be attributed to any number of celeb types, esp the lyric writing smile.

I'll let you get back to your rioja fellow Old Timer wink

And I'm sorry. I don't know what Apple thinks should be turned into "dos too" either! It was probably something like "most of the way through"!

ELO a top band - saw them earlier in the year at Liverpool. I'd have thought that they would've been better headliners than Adele.

Squeeze as usual also brilliant!

ELO were great and the Sunday mid pm slot is always for a chilled out old timer, I am not Adele fan and watched New Order instead but to suggest ELO should headline the UKs biggest festival, given the average here is probably 25 is laughable in reality, sorry

I only know them because my parents played their album regularly when I was in the car as a nipper

I'm glad my humble opinion made you laugh but I would suggest that my opinion is as valid as yours.

But wow what an experience for them!! I assume two of them are his. The girl in the green leggings definitely looks like Gwyneth.
