Squeeze were great, I thought - only one song I hadn't heard of, but it was still good. ZZ Top were quite plodding - I know that's their style of music, but I was hoping the live environment might jazz it up a bit. Couldn't figure out why their bass player was playing a keyboard with one finger for most of the tracks, then a proper bass, then back to the keyboard. ELO were very good, but very similar to their performance at Hyde Park in terms of set selection. Madness were pretty good too, not a favourite band of mine by any means, but watchable.

(With you 100% though - my only 2 Glastonburys were 97 & 98, which put me off for life having got soaked to the bones on both occasions - due largely to being an ill-prepared youngster!)

Nope, but will tee it up on iPlayer in a minute as soon as Guy Garvey's set has finished - one of the benefits of WFH! I saw LCD at Austin City Limits a few years back, the Yanks were going mental for them but it wasn't really my bag, but was an afternoon slot. Perhaps needs to be seen after nightfall?

Yeah being at night with the lights and video screen probably makes a difference, but the crowd, at least where I was near the front, was just so up for it particularly with it being last up on Sunday night it really made for a great show. I've seen a fair amount of live music over the years, but this was something else entirely. I saw LCD at Austin City Limits a few years back, the Yanks were going mental for them but it wasn't really my bag, but was an afternoon slot. Perhaps needs to be seen after nightfall?

It must have been about 8 or 9 years ago that I was getting a lift back with a mate who was working on site. He wasn't allowed to drive off until 5pm on the Monday. It was a wetter festival than last weeks, and there was a hell of a lot more left behind that's in that video. The tent I took wasn't very good, so as I had time on my hands, I took another one down. I'm still using it all these years later. Every cloud...
Years ago at Reading, Monday mornings were like being in Beirut back in the day. Gas canisters being thrown into fires, tents being put into fires.. It's as close as I'll ever get to being on the set of Mad Max. Thank god those days are over, no more fires allowed on the Monday departure day.
I've been watching some more on iPlayer.
Jess Glynne was quite good I thought and Christine and the Queens very quirky.
I couldn't get on with LCD Soundsystem myself and gave up a few minutes in. Same with Coldplay (who I don't mind, although I'm not a huge fan either) - maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for them.

I gave LCD a whirl on iPlayer over the weekend but just couldn't get on with them, horses for courses I guess.
Am listening to Christine & The Queens now, intriguing. Apparently a megastar in France, they're on at Latitude in 2 weeks so I've just downloaded their album off Apple Music to get acquainted with it.
I'm not a massive Muse fan, but I do like some of their stuuf, that seemed pretty good. I was over at the John Peel watching Sigur Ros at the time, so pleased that the Beeb shows a lot of it. Shame it's only on 28 days retention though - I like to go back ands watch stuff like this on a dark winter's night ot get me thinking about Festival season again.

Foals came across on iplayer but still no way near the exhilaration of being there live, even when they left speakers blew for one track

You can't ever really capture the atmosphere in the crowd when watching it back on iplayer. Fairly safe to say it was absolutely phenomenal! If you have a look on the efestivals forum thread about the gig there's a general consensus that it was one of best sets most folk had ever been to. It's definitely gone straight to the top of my list. My mates and other half are getting a bit sick of hearing about it now... I watched Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott's set as I was off to see them at Somerset House and, whilst they were quite enjoyable, they didn't set the world alight, I didn't think watching on iPlayer.
However, thankfully, they were great entertainment at Somerset House and I had Fun, Fun, Fun!

Just got back from T in the Park. If you thought the Mad Max days were over, I promise you they are not. Even the mud had given up - turned into a slurry on top of itself and that was just inside the tents. Well I say mud... I only did yesterday on a day ticket (pussy I know), but jesus it was hardcore. How only two people died I don't know.
Anyhoo, I went up specifically to see LCD. 499 other people had the same idea. The other 79,500 including my wife went to see the Chilli Peppers, so it turned out to be a very intimate gig. Had a real feeling of that Hendrix Woodstock film - just a small group of people, as much celebrating the fact that they had survived an ordeal as it was the music on stage. But they were LCD Soundsystem, they were amazing and I was there
For general fun though, Faithless were incredible.

I saw that on TV and the LCD gig looked dead, I mentioned to my Mrs that I bet it was actually fantastic to be in that small crowd. The mud did indeed look on another level of miserable.
I've always fancied T as the line-up is always good, but get the impression that it's a full-on assault on the senses, fuelled by tens of thousands of Scots properly getting on the electric soup. Is the campsite not the place to be if you value 8hrs solid kip? I managed to do that at Glasto, but get the impression the T crowd turns it up to 11!!
Sorry to bang on about the Glastonbury litter thing, but a £780,000 litter clearance bill is enormous - as they say, that could be much reduced if people just took a few minutes to clean up after themselves.

Lots of excuses about the mud this year as a reason for leaving stuff behind, it's a poor excuse. We got up at 6am on the Monday and yomped about 3 miles from the John Peel stage to the furtherst of the East car parks, it was hard going but we didn't leave a thing.
