I am far from an aggressive person but have almost got into some awkward situations when having a go at the idiots who piss on floor/walls rather than wait 30 more seconds and piss in the proper urinals. Despite the numerous signs informing people of the issue.

The council tests the water quality every year and Glastonbury is always teetering on the edge of a ban due to urine polluting the water table.

Yep, some people are complete animals and others really don't think things through. People also take way too much stuff and can't be bothered to carry it back. I take a back pack full, cool bags with beer and food and a tent, 1 trip only.

I heard someone who was working saying that Monday afternoon can get a bit nasty with "scavengers" and witnessed some lady going tent to tent picking up full beer cans. Maybe that's the way forward, allow people on site to take tents etc. so they can sell them on ebay. Chances are they will be selling it back to the idiot who left it in the first place.

any half decent tents are collected and sent to charities (not beer cans though)

They do that at Reading Festival, but only the campsite - affectionately know as 'The Wombles' by my mate Greg!

Trouble is with Glastonbury is is a) an enormous site and b) not fenced off for camping/non-camping. There is a lot of high value kit on site, that somebody invited on to scavenge a few tents could get their hands on. Just not worth the risk/cost of securing it. Reading's campsite contains some overflowing Portaloos - good luck to you if you want to nick one of them!

The sheer lack of toilets at Glastonbury is laughable. Since I the first time that I went in 2000, I honestly think that they now have less toilets.

At our campsite this year, the toilet queues in the morning almost joined up from the toilets in each corner. It didn't help that there were no gents urinals..

The toilets for the Other stage are an absolute joke. There's one gents urinal that is fit for about 100 people to use. You have to go up over the railway to use the next toilets, and that's no bigger. All catering for their second biggest stage where tens of thousands of people watch the bands..

Reading on the other hand has progessively changed their toilets. In the arena, even at the end of a main stage gig, the toilet queues really aren't bad at all. They've also added toilets near to where people used to pee against the fence. They have wider and multiple entrances to combat congestion.

Glastonbury should realise that the vast majority of people don't want to pee on the land.

Rant over...almost.


ps : I didn't pee on the land but can understand why it happens.

Personally never have a problem finding a toilet TBH, yes you might have to queue sometimes but generally only a few minutes

Other stage - big toilet block to the back left of the viewing area by the railway line (but not over), 5 minute walk max, less when not muddy

I am talking about blokes pissing against the fencing / plastic sheeting AT THE ENTRANCE TO or even ONCE INSIDE the urinal tents, where there was no queue or a max 30 second wait!

I think the pissoir provision is generally pretty good, except for that bit at the back of THe Other Stage by the railway line, that does always get rammed just after somebody popular i.e. nearly all the time from about 3pm onwards

We were next to two bunches of lads up on big ground. One lot just talked loud stream of consciousness stuff about brexit and their grades when they came back caned at 4am... very glad of ear plugs. Also heard them talking about taking a dump and lobbing across the camp site. The other bunch fairly quickly turned their bit in to what can only be described as resembling a lan fill site including getting up in the night and taking a dump outside their own tents. They're our future don't you know. Think I'll camp somewhere else next time.

Apart from that and the leg knackering mud it was brilliant. Christine and the Queens, Ferocious Dog, Nine Below Zero, Muse, The Alarm and Cyndi Lauper (surprisingly) were all highlights. Wish I'd been able to see Underworld but it clashed with something my wife wanted to see and we had no energy left to split up and try and meet up later. Circus tents were great as usual as was the food and the beer. The Theatre Tent bar was a great laugh.

Dry one next year please.

I've just discovered a lot of it is still on catch up, so I've watched a few, and I just love Christine and the Queens. I've not been so impressed with a performance since Janelle Monae a couple of years back, a entertaining show all round.

I might try and watch it again if it is still on catch up then. I commented a few pages back on how much I enjoyed her/their set. I first saw her on Graham Norton a few weeks before and she seemed lovely when he chatted to her.
