That Brucie link was a bit good, Bruce has never been my 'cup of tea' but that was good.

Who's the lead guitarist? Nils Lofgran?

Here's a shorter version, starting at the beginning of Prince's solo.

I honestly never realised he really was that good;
just had him down as an epic songwriter / performer
goes to show how wrong you can be...
so sad..

Can anyone explain this weird phenomenon where people wait until an artist dies before buying their album. Surely if they liked his music they would already have bought the album.
His 2006 hits album is No.10 in the charts.

I will admit I've wondered about that too. I'm hoping a roadie caught it, or maybe some lucky fella in the audience got a free guitar that day biggrin

I've also wondered why he did it. My guess from watching it (many times) is that he's totally frustrated that the song has ended and that was his one and only time on stage that night.

When you watch him closely and see him making eye contact with the other musicians, and see the odd little smile creep across his face my head assumed he just wanted to stay there all night.

A bit like a child at a fun fair when they're told "it's time to go home now" and they still want more turns on all the rides - toys leave pram.

It took me a while to come to terms with his action there because the performance was outstanding and I thought it was totally unnecessary just to storm off stage like that.

There were only two conclusions I could reach;
1. He thought everyone else on stage was st, felt they were all beneath him and it was a 'fvck you lot' moment.
2. He just wanted to stay there all night.

The more I learn about him the more I hope it was the second reason.

Who knows? Perhaps just "Rock 'n' Roll" hehe

Good observation. I was lucky enough to attend a private gig at his rented house in Beverly Hills and he played until 6:00am. There were about five of us left in the room but he was not playing for the audience, he was playing for himself. That memory will stay with me for the rest of my life.

He was a very gracious, polite and friendly guy off stage but an absolute beast when he picked up that guitar.

Apparently there is a great story to that gig. Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne had spent the previous day mocking Prince that he didn't know the song, and learn how to play the song man etc etc was the order of the day. As can be seen he takes that song to another level. Also he plays bits that interrupt the two guys singing when the solo is over. This is just to annoy the guys and you can tell all are having a great time.
