Saw Wishbone Ash back in 73 ish at Leeds-in the day when I thought the only music worth listening to was guitar rock with O Level lyrics. Enjoyed it though , and, weirdly, saw them again at Silverstone last year . I knew every bloody note...

Re Whistle Test, yes it really was that good. Watched a compilation on BBC4 on Friday and whilst there was some dross(God save me from cheeky Geordie chappies Lindisfarne)Beefheart and Roxy were utterly sublime . And why no equivalent programme now? Jools Holland has decent bands but programme far too short and he is the world's most inept interviewer . A show fronted by people like Ratcliffe and /or Maconie, Hepworth/Kershaw/ Ellen and the divine Kate Mossman would tick most boxes.

I saw the one on Friday with Lindisfarne. That was jaw dropping. The must have been a caricature of the folk people even back then!

TOGWT was most definitely that good. The Specials were on the rerun on Friday, not too long after Steppenwolf.
