Been trying to think of bands which still have the original line-up after years of chart success. (I'm talking about the same line-up from initial chart entry time to current time)

Only ones I can think of with proper longevity are U2 and Placebo. Sure there must be loads more...

Placebo have had a least three drummers.

Can't think of any at all, TBH. Probably some minor indie band who've only been around for a year or two.

Ah, there you go. I know even fewer than I realised

Just thought of another... ZZ Top?

Muse. 22 years.

Reckon it's more likely to be a 3-piece; they'd be less likely to continue with the loss of one member that a 6-7 piece band.

Muse have always had the same members since they started in 1994.

REM had always pretty much had the same members until their drummer, Bill Berry, fell ill in 1997. They never replaced him with a full-time member, so does that count?

I think Radiohead still have their original line-up, as do Coldplay who have been going 20 years now!

Chas n Dave?
Quo?
Duran Duran, Madness?

It's usually the front frontmen that survive and the background which changes....

For Quo Parfitt and Rossi are original, but Coghlan (drummer) and Lancaster (bass) left in the early eighties IIRC.

Apparently part of the secret is to split the royalties evenly, avoids money trouble. This is U2's secret.

Biffy Clyro have been going since 1995 with the same three members.

just done a bit of research on Green Day, the original drummer was replaced in 1990 by Tre' Cool and the fourth member of Green Day; Jason White, who had been with them since 1999 but not officially, was announced as an official band member in 2012.
