Glastonbury 2017....who's going?

Friend managed to get some for me and my missus, even though we told them we couldn't get them any as trying to get some for our house group.
Awkward when our house don't manage to get any, so it's just the 2/5 of us going so far. Resale it is for them!
Don't care for Stone Roses or Guns n Roses.
But I do hope that Foo's and Green Day play, both been on my list for a few years.
Lady Gaga would be interesting, think my missus would drag me along.
Need to spend some proper time in Shangri La this year, didn't manage a night of it when I went in 2013.

I really wanted to go this year but just couldn't get tickets! Me and a friend both tried for a full hour from 9am refreshing the page with no luck at all.

Shangri La was crazy busy last year, not sure why. We got in once on Friday (which was a complete mission and bordering on dangerous) for Roger Sanchez in NYC Downlow which was awesome but Sat and Sun it was closed to new people. You really need to be leaving the main stages before the end of the sets.

You can get in later...so I didcovered after seeing Richard Hawley at the Park Stage, and wandering about for a bit, decided to head to Shangri La. I walked in the general direction, going though the teepee area, and some other very quiet and non lit parts. Following my nose I ended up coning into the area quite near where the exit is. A mate said that he'd tried from the road area with no luck. It's a bit more of a trek but fairly easy to do.
It was worth the walk to see the Shibusashirazu Orchestra. Truly bonkers.
Each to their own, but I find the Shangri La area just waaaay too busy, I get a bit claustrophobic, too many people gurning and mashed off their tits, barging through the crowd etc, it's just not 'very Glastonbury' to me.
Then again I'm 44 with a 1yo kid, so I was back off to my tent for 8hrs uninterrupted kip after the headliners this year, you take your kip when you can!

I went to Glastonbury 3 years ago after not having been for about 5 or 6 years. I felt exacly the same...it didn't feel very Glastonbury. Over the last 3 years I've grown to realise it is part of the experience for many, and I can see why they've done it. The music they play there is not my thing at all, but they do have bands on in tiny little corners, and they can be good.
Most of the people that I saw gurning this year tended to be 30, 40 something, maybe reliving their youth.

I get the same thing thing every year these days! Blank screen after refreshed blank screen. Occasionally I get onto the 'holding page' which auto refreshes every twenty seconds, but I seem to get booted off after a while - either that or the site crashes, I don't know.
I just don't know how people get through when I get the same disappointment every year.
Disheartening.

Are you trying solo, or do you have a team of people trying for you? My group have been successful in going every year since this mad online hype for tickets started, but only because we all share each other's registration numbers and usually 1-2 out of the 12-14 of us that go gets lucky and is able to do a 'group buy' for everyone. This is all regular home broadband connections in towns throughout Britain, nobody has a high speed link, as such. I get the same thing thing every year these days! I feel a bit bad as I've managed to get tickets over the last 3 years. There was a problem last year when I only got through at 9:30 after 20 mins of getting a blank screen, and then 10 mins on the holding page. I later found out that seetickets had crashed hence the first 20 mins being a problem..I get the same thing thing every year these days! Blank screen after refreshed blank screen. I do manually refresh the page each time, both on my laptop and phone, which I have on 4G. Besides that, I'm doing anything special.
Yes I'm trying solo. I was loosely invited onto a group buy by an old friend, but I don't think it was his place to invite me if that makes sense, so I was effectively frozen out of that one.
I appreciate that that's how it's done these days and it's a case of if you can't beat them, join them. I may start my own group on Facebook for next year, as none of my close friends are into music like I am.

Looking at the real thing the only obvious omission is Lady Gaga who (it is rumoured) opted for Coachella and we now have Katy Perry
Some good stuff there. Happy to be going, not that it would make much difference as a lot of the acts I will be seeing tend to be on the smaller stages (Avalon and Acoustic). If Chic are nearly as good as they were on West Holts in '13 they will be amazing.
Very pleased I stuck to my guns with Mrs PT to rearrange our summer holiday - get back on the Thursday, ride down on my bike first thing on Friday morning - mates taking my tent ahead of me on the Wednesday like festival Sherpas!
