No body else noticed this?

Of course you did....

Years back when I was 25 years old, John Ottway had just played for me on my birthday party.

Afterwards I went back to the house of a fella who had really helped get the gig organised.

At about 4am in the morning he played If you see her, say hello. Having walked from Stockport to Didsbury, the following day I headed down south to Heathrow and took a one way flight out of the UK.

That song was ringing in my head.

Dylan lyrics, famous voices

Bob Dylan has been awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, becoming the first songwriter to win the prestigious award.
To hear his lyrics in their full glory, PM asked Tom Conti, Miranda Hart, Samuel West and Nigel Havers for a reading.

Hmm

Noticed this yesterday - am not and have never been a great fan of Dylan for the music.

However, I think I always realised he was and is a poet of epic proportions that will probably be known (and misreported/misunderstood) for centuries.

Mrs Beano has a Daytime TV show on and I just heard some woman lauding him. This particular woman said his best work was "Season of the Witch".

Which is great. Except - and I wasn't 100% sure so looked it up - that was written by Donovan!

Just goes to show, People don't really know Dylan

Not a bad effort @23 or so..

e disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind
Down the foggy ruins of time
Far past the frozen leaves
The haunted frightened trees
Out to the windy bench
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky
With one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea
Circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate
Driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow

Thoroughly deserved imo.
Makes you wonder why it took so long when you consider he was writing A hard rains gonna fall, while the Beatles
were coming up with I want to hold your hand.

Definitely worth it. Here is an example of Dylan doing actual poetry; when he was asked to write 25 words about Woody Guthrie, he wrote a few more.

Worth it. He couldn't (can't) sing at all, in the slightest, ever... Never hit a note in tune - but his lyrics were (are) always top drawer.

Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet ?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doing our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handful of rain, tempting you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing really nothing to turn off
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind.

You might not like his voice but it's ludicrous to claim he couldn't sing. Within his range he nails it, and effortlessly. Great voice (I think) but also great control.

I think this one illustrates your (here we go) point.

Wasn't for services to audiences... he was st when I saw him a few years ago...

Incredibly, I got chatting to a couple at a gig last month and they mentioned it as the worst gig they'd ever been to! biggrin

ETA - Oh wait... That was BOB Dylan... I didn't know Bod's surname was Dylan! biggrin
