Two of my locals have the same touchscreen boxes. I suspect they're not keeping the subscriptions up to date because, even before lockdown "This Weeks top 40" was months out of date. And, annoyingly, one of the songs I really like (The Stranglers' cover of "Walk on by") appears to be the standard version based on the miniature version of the cover that appears on the screen, but it's actually an acoustic version which isn't as good, and fades out just before the keyboard solo.

And, I really think these touch screen boxes should show what duration of songs has already been bought, so I know whether it's worth putting any money in. If the bloke before has just put 40 minutes of tunes in, I know there's little chance of me hearing my solution.

Both pubs have staff that, if they don't like the song that's playing, will press the hidden button that skips onto the next track. One does it immediately, the other leaves it 10-15 seconds so the staff member can get away from the button and pretend it wasn't them.

Love having music in the pub. One of my locals has a great jukebox, one of the internet ones so just about anything recorded seems to be on there. Sometimes it gets annoying when the same songs get played over and over though but if they are paid for then fair enough. I just wish they would ditch the free jukebox days, some div will always come in, put 25 songs on and leave... They try to limit it to two records at a time but no chance of it being respected. There is also the self appointed pub DJ who just wants their own stuff on.

The jukeboxes should really show how many songs are already loaded up. No point putting a tune on if you might be waiting an hour to hear it...

What I cannot stand in pubs are TVs. The flat screen TV must be the worst invention ever! How many times have you been in a pub only to have a huge wall mounted telly blaring away? No one watching it of course.. Apart from the staff who sit gawping at it instead of serving customers. Another pain is football on the things. Why do they have to be on so loud? Its bad enough having to listen to every kick being discussed and replayed a dozen times without it being so loud you can't have a conversation.

Or the TV on silent that just sucks your attention in.

My old student union used to have something like MTV on.

With the sound off.

And music playing over the speakers.

But not the music that was on MTV.

Know of 2 Wurlitzers within 5 miles of each other in Greece, both working but have a few faults, best thing about finding the second one was that the owner fired it up and gave me a coin to play a single, had had a few drinks, didn't notice if the coin was Euro or Drachma

Anyway, there were good rock singles on it and I think The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black was selected,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it was a while back...........

1984. ish. I went to visit a friend from Uni in his home town of Brighouse and I was introduced to the Freebird Run. I was enjoying a pint when the jukebox dropped Lynyrd Skynyrd. About half the pub downed what they had in their glasses and left. Their aim was to go the pub next door, have a pint there, and return before Freebird ended. Obviously we joined in. It was, to the extent I have any memory of it, quite a messy evening.

I was physically ejected from a pub in Rosyth when I put on 'Oh Superman' by Laurie Anderson three times on the trot.
It was #2 in the charts at the time.

I put that on the jukebox on Sunday night - while I was aware of the band I recently watched the documentary "If I leave here tomorrow" on Sky Arts and it was quite good. It faded out just as it was getting going, and not because the bar staff interfered with it. I guess that's the difference between "Freebird" and "Freebird (ep)".
