Bass Drum Kick Pedal
Discussion
Having returned to the drum kit after 20 years away from one, I have this question.
My Mapex kick pedal's beater is almost horizontal when idle. The beater and arm I would say are just above 90 degrees angle to the floor. I can't remember what angle the beaters were when I was playing in my youth, but I am noticing that the beater is flying back and hitting my shin when I use it especially on fast double /triple taps.
I have seen some youtube vids on adjustment and have tried rotating the silver nuts at the side of the spring, but nothing changes. Any idea on normal beater position and how to adjust?
Thanks

It's all personal preference tbh, I have mine set further back than most people do with highest string rate. As for adjusting I've always found you undo/loosen one screw on the top side move the beater where you want it and tighten. Should be the same on the Mapex pedal, I have one somewhere so will double check!
I'm really not happy with this so I have uploaded a 30 second video for some guidance. It's not the spring tension, it's the fact that the pedal continually smashes back onto my foot on application. I can't seem to adjust the angle of the beater - unless there is something else I am doing wrong?
