He has a house on the other side of the loch here... he pilots his chopper up and gets one of his 'people' to drive his Porsche Cayenne, so it's here when he arrives.

I'm not saying nothin' wink

Have your people call his people. You could do lunch sometime.

I've met him a couple of times and he was good company - we did only talk about cars, which he's enthusiastic about. Might have helped.

He doesn't just keep another at that house?
I think he needs his 'people' as well as his car. Maybe he needs more people wink

Me and my brother often have the same conversation 'How did he make so much money?'
I know he had two or three popular albums and singles but he seems like he's accumalated millions going by the houses and cars he has, he's hardly been prolific in recent years.

Some people are popular outside the UK - Apparently they have money there too! biggrin

Still baffled why people care whether musicians they'll almost certainly never have to engage with socially are ****s or not...

He made about 6 massive albums at the time when people still bought CDs. He wrote/co-wrote all the music as well which means royalities galore. I bet his PPL payments are astronomical.

I do remember being the infill DJ between bands in our local village hall (nr Mildenhall and Lakenheath USAF air bases) and playing one of the many mixes on the cd single of Return Of The Space Cowboy and a black American came up to me and said can I buy that off of you, he gave me £20 for it, so I sort of guessed he might be very popular in the USA.
I do remember seeing Jamiroquai at Notting Hill Carnival in the mid 90s and it was a good show.

A guy who worked with Van Morrison said there's two kinds of people, those who like Van Morrison and those who've met him.
Van Morrison is taking a legal challenge against the live music ban in the north of Ireland.
Fair play to Van for standing up for what he believes in. I mean here’s a musician who lived through the US Civil Rights movement and the troubles in the north without penning a song about it. But ask the c**t to wash his hands and he releases three protest albums.

I always though Lars Ulrich was a bit of a knob.I then watched "Some Kind of Monster" and while I don't think anyone came out of that smelling of roses, he was head and shoulders above the other three for being a massive cock.

Must be something about drummers, as Ginger Baker, formerly of Cream, is a complete bd. An absolute genius behind the kit though though. cool
Check out Mission to Lars. It is amazing to watch and Lars comes across fantastically.

Mark Knopfler comes across as a genuinely lovely, humble, bloke.

That other Geordie, Sting, on the other hand comes across stuck up in addition to being a very average bass player.

I used to work as a monitor engineer, I have met an innumerable amount of jumped up wkers with instruments, but then again, I have met a great deal of humble musicians who have been a joy to work with.

Just like any other job.

On the flip side, I spent a few weeks at Gary Barlows house and he was genuine and friendly. This was at the height of his Take That fame as well when he had a crowd of teenage girls camped out at his house. If we were not meeting at his house we would have to meet after hours when the business would otherwise be closed to avoid the girls.

I was amused by his family who lived in the same grounds as his house. They used to give cake and coffee to the girls. They told me they felt responsible for the girls safety as most were either dropped off by parents or had not told their parents they were going to sit outside Gary’s house. None of the girls cottoned on to the fact there were two entrances and Gary just used the other one.

I went back a few years later when his first Take That days were behind him and he no longer had girls camped out. This time he had opened his recording studio up to others. I was in his kitchen while extremely talented singers would come in to grab a drink while continuing to sing whatever it was they were working on in the studio. It was like a mini concert.

Back on topic, I spent an interesting night with a girl that worked with many artists. The one she really had no good things to say about was Jools Holland.
