Gig Plans - 2017
Discussion
Was all for booking tickets for Metallica at Manchester till I saw the price.
£95 for lower tier seats. and £95, £75 and £57 in the upper tier and then addon all the extras
So I'll give it a miss. Would also mean taking a Saturday night of work.
Last time I saw them in 2008, in Manchester, in lower tier seats I paid a total of £93.60 for 2 tickets.

just booked tickets for metallica in October in Glasgow, but £100 for a standing ticket...... ouch!
If its indoor it will be well worth it. Thinking of heading to London for Weezer.
But £100 for a gig is steep by any imagination. I get all the costs involved in producing a tour like this and that's really the only way that musicians make money........ but at these sorts of prices, live gigs are becoming such a luxury that are really pricing many people out.
Iron Maiden, Hans Zimmer and Chick Corea sorted. I think that'll be it for the year unless Youngblood Brass Band tour. As previously mentioned tickets are just so expensive these days, there was a time I would see a big band once a month or sometimes twice but it's just not really doable anymore.

Off to see The Blockheads locally on 1st April.
Anyone seen them? They look pretty decent on YouTube with Derek Hussey fronting them pretty effectively.

I'd be surprised if you can take your eyes off Norman Watt-Roy on bass!

I've always been a fan of Weezer, especially the early days but their last few albums have been disappointing and since this is a tour for the new album (who's title track is pup IMO) I won't be shelling out £45 for the privilege. A greatest hits tour would be awesome!! Thinking of heading to London for Weezer.
Brucie bonus for London gigs though, Ash as support

Just booked Saint Etienne at Bexhill De La Warr Pavilion in June.
Through gritted teeth I having to pass on going to Mogwai at Brixton in December as Christmas do planned for same day, hopefully we'll get a full tour later....
I've also booked Saint Etienne but for Brum, the Symphony Hall is a great venue even if it is all seated.Through gritted teeth I having to pass on going to Mogwai at Brixton in December as Christmas do planned for same day, hopefully we'll get a full tour later....

Mogwai better be touring!
I can't be bothered with the band Metallica have become, if they did a tour focused on the old stuff then I'd be there, but the modern stuff I wouldn't pay to see.
Here's how they're going so far... Sadly not added any more recently, as my diary is getting jam packed, but hoping to add a few more before the year is out!
Mar - Seafret @ The Bullingdon, Oxford - Fantastic to watch, and Freddie Dickson was good fun beforehand.
Mar - Bear's Den @ o2 Academy, Oxford - Everything I hoped they'd be live, and more! That despite the sound system being either terrible, or not set up properly. Caught the end of the warm-up act, who sounded alright (didn't catch their name). A couple of acoustic sounds with no amps or anything - total bliss.
Mar - Crowbar @ Bierkeller, Bristol
Apr - Cigarettes After Sex @ Koko, London
May - Seafret @ Thekla, Bristol
Jun - System of a Down @ Download Festival, Donington Park
Aug - Stereophonics @ Victorious Festival, Portsmouth
Nov - The Smyths @ Komedia, Bath

Not much so far this year.
First was last week - Bush @ Shepherd's Bush Empire, and the second means it's back to the same place tomorrow to see Senseless Things. Hadn't seen either band for nearly 20 years. Apart from that, only got Depeche Mode at the Olympic Stadium.
Might have been tempted by Metallica, but £100 for decent seat/standing a gig at the O2 Arena is getting ridiculous - yes the nosebleed seats in L4 are cheaper, the view and sound is pretty awful.

Barely a word spoken to the crowd , the band looked board it was almost watching them rehearse.
Ash will be good though.
