Since the old boy died I've been listening to my early 70s favourites over and over again.

But wow this is a great album

Robert Fripp is ripping it up - Bowie chose his collaborators well

RIP

Love it.
One of my favourite Bowie albums.

Teenage Wildlife is a particular favourite on it. Fripps guitar is sublime.

There's also a (then) swipe at Gary Numan on there as well. And as a Numan fan i took it as a compliment that Dave gave him a mention.

Stand out album for me, along with Low and Heroes ( i really love the B sides of both those).

If someone put a gun to my head I'd have to say that Hunky Dory is my favourite, but I think you're spot on with Low and Heroes. Those seconds sides are works of genius imo.

The "holy trilogy" of Hunky Dory/The Rise & Fall/Alladin Sane are brilliant in their originality and "rawness", but Scary Monsters is the most "accomplished". It's a beautifully crafted album and is as fresh today and the day it was launched. (1980/1?).

It's No Game, with the Japanese voiceover and the screaming of Shut Up, is just fabulous.

I love the holy trilogy so SM would be my no 4 Bowie record, but it's my wife's no 1.

Good music whilst capturing a vibe of its own, can be timeless. I can't believe how long ago it was produced and agree.

Absolutely. My favourite too, esp. It's No Game, Fashion, Up the Hill Backwards - oh, damn, all of them! Guitar sound I couldn't believe when I first heard it in the '80s, and still love now. Thanks David
