Aged 49 after all these years with various bottles hitting me on the back of the head at rock concerts I have finally decided what makes someone a great music listener. And it's being eclectic.

Being eclectic means you are narrow minded. And throwing off those shackles means you enjoy music more. Especially in these digital times. Not sure Gloria Estefan would have done Monsters of Rock, but I am boogying on down tonight at her, breath of air and a difference.

Or perhaps I am getting old? scratchchin

No, being eclectic is the way to love music, never be narrow minded, be from Radio 3 to Tamil radio to something your mum would not like. Perhaps twice.

I rather agree with that.

I've found over the years that discounting certain types of musical genres means you miss out on some gems. Yes, my "go to" stuff is classical, classic rock, and Seattle "grunge" (there's an eclectic sample to start with; I'm happiest listening to the works of - say - Gabriel Faure, Led Zep, and Soundgarden!) but I still appreciate musically other things.

Jazz, for example, such as 'round Midnight and Autumn Leaves and Take 5. Stuff by Coldplay, and Adele, and the Backstreet Boys.

In the last few weeks, I've been enjoying playing on my guitar:

Sleepwalk
Apache
Cavatina
Shakin' All Over
Delilah (!!)

I still love "old skool" trance as well, but struggle with C&W.
