Chuck Berry has passed away at the age of 90. One of the pioneers who brought us rock n roll in its purest form.

Here's hoping he's up in heaven playing with his ding a ling.

Very very sad to hear tis. One of the first records I bought was "Memphis Tennessee" by Chuck, must have been '59 or '60, RIP

Since this is PH, I'm off to listen to Maybellene and Jaguar and Thunderbird as a tribute.

Saw Chuck at Buxton rock festival in 1973 high on the moors. His set lasted 20 minutes.

They would still be around but would have sounded quite different

My morning soundtrack - still rocking at 81 in late 2007. Slightly more sedate and not as tight but still doing what he was born to do at an age when many have already fallen by the way side.

Doesn't matter either way. Its just opinions - neither is more right than the other.

BBC4 showed a concert of his last night. The word 'legend' gets used a lot but definitely applies to Chuck.
