No, I'm not after a Robert Palmer compilation, but I am trying to find something.

Many, many years ago I used to dance to a disco/northern soul style song at our local Town Hall disco (I told you it was a long time ago) and, aside from there, the ONLY time I ever heard the track was on "Star Special" with, I'm sure but time plays tricks, Stevie Wonder. I missed, at the time, who the artist was and I've never known!

I've hunted long on the internet for a track list to that show, but only today found out it was called "Star Special", so I'm hoping that maybe someone knows a bit about it.

I'd love a recording of the whole programme, ideally, but just a track list would probably help me, but so far Google isn't even confirming Stevie Wonder did a "Star Special".

For anyone old enough to remember, this was on Radio 1 at 7PM on a Sunday in the late '70s (maybe even only 1979) after the chart show finished.

Anyone got any links, leads, etc?

Thanks

M

There's a piece in "Billboard" magazine from September 1978 announcing the separation of R1 and R2, which announces the programme and says "A new programme planned is to be called 'Star Special' on which a big-name artist will introduce a two-hour record show. Stevie Wonder is the first international name signed."

I noticed that the BBC still have some of these, after the death of David Bowie they ran one on BBC6 Music. Maybe you could try to contact someone there to see if they could help?

Thanks - I've found a site called "genome.ch.bbc.co.uk" which seems to have information on the show, so I've emailed them to see if they have a track list for the show.

I'll post back if I find anything.

"Get Off" by Foxy

On reflection I wonder why it stuck in my mind so much, but at least I know now! biggrin

Kudos to the kind people at genome.ch.bbc.co.uk for responding too!
