A couple of years ago I was in Hanover one Sunday and there was a bit of a "festival of all things Hanover" taking place with local organisations having stalle, street food, etc.. I heard live music and stopped for a listen. I then realised that (1) the bass player was female, (2) she was playing a 5 string, and (3) she was stunningly good! I got back to the hotel and Googled to try to find out who I had just seen and the answer was Joanna Dudkowska.

I saw Dragonforce last night and they have a very good female bass player. As did the support band Infected Rain although they weren't my cup of tea she was again very good, always like being able to pick out the bass from the rest of the instruments at a concert.
