The Mavericks - Dance The Night Away

Happy with that.

Day 3 though.

I'd be sorry if I got fed up with it before it is superceded.

At this moment of the year, it's usually The Frog Chorus

But do you find it agreeable?

We've had earworm threads before, where people go mad with tunes they can't escape. I found I had one I didn’t mind and thought the phenomenon might be worth exploring.

It would also make a good name for a pub. I'm in the Tap Room of The Agreeable Earworm.

Is any earworm agreeable? Once it's become an earworm surely it's too late

I'm conflicted; it's a cheery sounding track but the lyrics are of the sit-in-a-warm-bath-with-a-razor variety.

I occasionally get "Cruel to Be Kind" by Nick Lowe on repeat;

at some point the DJ in my head will change records to "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass"

Very occasionally he will get confused and change to "Walking on Broken Glass" by Annie Lennox

It's fun in my head.

Forgive me, it's the cold. It's me age. It's the Sussexes.

It's probably not the Sussexes.

My agreeable earworm has today become Come Dancing by the Kinks.

I seem to know nearly all the words. Which came as a surprise.

For me it tends to be 80s bouncy synth pop, such as together In electric dreams, omd’s electricity or Yazzoo’s take on only you.

Ravel's Bolero is a common one with me. I guess it's because it's so repetitive and also that I listen to it quite a bit trying to work out which instuments are playing in each section.

For years now, an agreeable one has been Dvorak's Serenade for Strings; just very musical and relaxing.

Other times, it's tunes I'm trying to learn on guitar. Lately, Steely Dan's Kid Charlemagne / Peg / Black Cow have alternately been looping in my head.

With me it's usually TV or film theme tunes - regular ones are 'The Persuaders' and 'The Ipcress File' by John Barry, and 'Strange Report' by Roger Webb, they seem to exist inside my head for days at a time.

Had to learn the lyrics when I stood in for another band's vocalist a while back... a lot of words to fit in/in time. I usually play it on guitar in our band (with a better singer biggrin ), but as usual when I'm learning a new song I ended up with an earworm. Pleasant enough I guess, unlike The Artic Monkeys 'You look good on the dancefloor' which I was also learning and I'd wake up in the middle of the night with it going round my head...

...like it is now arrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!

Ian Dury's Sweet Gene Vincent

I may be blagging quite a lot of the words though.

'Easy now' by N Gallagher is stuck in my head! To be fair it's possibly the best thing he has done for a loooong time.
