I can remember taping it loads, god knows what happened to them. We lived close enough to London to be able to pick up a couple of the pirates. I listened to LWR a lot in those days & that meant Tim Westwood. If only we knew.

No radio stations here, just started growing up as breakdancing hit, and had a local market stall that sold 7"/12"s and ropey mix tapes, which were played on ghetto blasters made by such luminaries as bush, saisho, matsui, silver...and they all ate D cell batteries (minimum 6, sometimes 8) at an alarming rate.

Didn't even know much of it was electro until much later, gave us an an excuse to go skip raiding on the local industrial estate to liberate off-cuts of lino though. biglaugh

and now that the OP has loosened up the parameters, biggrin I'll be back later, after I've picked up John. wink

Good. My favourite HL tune is probably "hard Times'. Gotta love the lyrics!

Right, I'm not self-appointed thread police, just so you're not left hanging, as I wouldn't want anyone else viewing the thread to get discouraged in posting stuff they like up. Other music threads have got a bit too narrow for my tastes, and a result too restrictive and gate-keepy as a result of things like that.

1st one 1000% yes! I'm always pleased to discover new tracks on thread like these.

2nd one I initially leaned towards no, as it was more new-wave/industrial, but the more you listen the more you hear it. There's a lesson there that there's going to be a lot of bleed across so-called genres, as the OP has already opened up.

The street sounds series, particularly 4 and 5 (but mainly 5) are amazing. There was a great article on 6 music about them a while ago.

The mix from Captain Rock to the Future Shock into Release yourself by Aleem is, probably the best mix of any two records of all time.
