The street sounds series, particularly 4 and 5 (but mainly 5) are amazing. There was a great article on 6 music about them a while ago.

The mix from Captain Rock to the Future Shock into Release yourself by Aleem is, probably the best mix of any two records of all time.
Dunno why that's not loading I can get to it following the link, once there I just copied the share button below the vid.

John Foxx '70s electro, if you like his 'Underpass' try this.
It starts a bit acousticy, then gets electronicy at about 4:00

Yes, I pitched it up a bit to get the full effect.

Which, reminds me...

Right, that's enough thread bombing on here for one night. In the words of the great Gordon Edge, I need something stronger, I'm away to terrorize the Techno thread.

Like Drexciya, I shall return.

Not a genre i know a huge amount about, other than that i like it and is hugely influential on the styles of music i do like.

Nice mix by Producer with cutting and scatching and all that good stuff. Probably leaning more on the hip hop side but still...

There’s been a resurgence of interest lately in the original series. I bought up electros 1 to 8, Crucial 1&2 (already had 3 from 1987), UK, and New York vs L.A Beats. Also bought the pink cover Beat Street soundtrack about 10 years ago, all on vinyl for around £15/£20 each.

A mate is doing the same now, and it’s costing him at least twice as much per album.

There is a South bank show (remember that?) documentary you can find on Youtube on Morgan Khan, the founder of Streetsounds, fronted by, of all people, Hugh Laurie & at one point, he climbs into the bath with him for an interview. It is in places, surreal.

I vaguely remember that!

If you’re not already aware, there is also a Street Sounds online station (app based), which I only found out about from the FB Street Sounds group. They don’t play much Electro, it’s more about the tunes that influenced the artists.
