'The Midnight Organ Fight' - Frightened Rabbit, thanks to a suggestion on my 'Is all Modern Music crap?' thread.

Next record likely to be 'Ritual' by White Lies, or 'Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters' by Twilight Sad. Or both. Probably.

i bought the reissue of ocean colour scene's mosely shoals. a cracking album all round, still sounds fresh and reading the new liner notes is a testamant to musical skill and old school tape recording and splice editing.

i already own it, and bought it solely for the 2nd CD of b-sides as i have never been able to find them as the original 'b sides, seasides and freerides' release. OCS were amazing at b-sides imo and it's a great set of tracks.

Embrace - Dry Kids (B-sides 1997 - 2005)

Love a bit of Embrace, but particularly The Good Will Out which is just brilliant.

Motorhead - The World is Yours
Not quite as good as Motorizer, their previous album, but still excellent.
Lemmy the true Prince of Darkness, a living legend who never fails to deliver.

Impressed with this. A mix of rock and old school prog, and a good flowing album. They were always a bit too lo-fi and art rock for me before but this is great!
I must have seen them live 50 times, and I still wouldn't be able to recognise any of their songs.
I remember seeing them supporting the Foo Fighters. It must have been about 10/11 years ago, but I thought they were one of the worst bands I'd ever seen! laugh

What has happened to them lately? Haven't heard a thing since that (not so great) world cup song, which would have been over 5 years ago!

Catatonia - Way Beyond Blue.
Re-living a bit of my youth, doubt its going to go down in history as one of the finest, most criticly acclaimed albums of all time but remember really enjoying it when it was first released. Lost the original years ago and i hadn't listened to it since, but have been listening to it all day between appointments reckon it still sounds pretty good.

No-one famous. We were unofficial groupies for a number of different bands, mainly Symposium, Reef and Snug. We had a friend who wrote for Kerrang! and NME, and threw after-gig parties quite often at his place near the Astoria, then we got a place near the Joiners in Southampton and carried on the tradition.

We were avid gig-goers rather than musicians, really.
Jesus, Symposium? That's a blast from the past!

I don't know to be honest. You're right about that World Cup song though, it wasn't brilliant.

Some of their stuff is extrememly good, other bits not quite so. The one album that really is a diamond from start to end though is definitely their debut, The Good Will Out. And it's less than £4 delivered off Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Good-Will-Out-Embrace/dp/B...

Worth a punt IMO.

Out Of Nothing is also a good 'un http://www.amazon.co.uk/Out-Nothing-Embrace/dp/B00...

in other news I bought a USB turntable at the w/e so could not resist some classic vinyl from the local hospice shop. Such fun just taking a punt cos they're only 2 or 3 quid so it doesn't really matter if they're not great. I'll take them back to the shop and redonate once I've recorded them anyway

Joe South - Midnight Rainbows
Flatt & Scruggs - With The Foggy Mountain Boys
John Prine - Common Sense
John Prine - Sweet Revenge
Elvis Costello - King of America (sadly scratched to buggery)

So, hopefully, after a month, my Labi Siffre CD will come!

Just got Duran Durans new album for cheap on 7digital. It's pretty average in all honesty.

Still need to get a copy of Mandala by RX bandits, but no where in Exeter seems to have any bandits, and Amazon screwed me over.

And I might pick up an aerosmith anthology on saturday.
