4Hero - Play With the Changes

A lot more mellow and laid back than their old stuff.

Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother, and Meddle

Both brilliant.

The title track on Atom is fantastic as is Fat Old Sun and Echoes on Meddle is spin chillingly brilliant.

is that album any good? been meaning to buy it for a while now!

It's excellent. Varied and inventive by turns. Big beat with a twist. Good stuff!

It's an Album Bill recorded in the 80's for Portrait which at the time was a major offshoot of CBS. It was only released as a LP and cassette despite being promised on CD. In the US the Title was changed to "On a Blue Wing" and the cover changed due to percieved objections from the Christian movement. Due to the clamour from Fans Bill got in Touch with Sony the owners of CBS with regard to a re-release but they were reluctant to do so. However they had started to release the tapes from other artists who had recorded material for Portrait(Toyah's "Minx" ), for independant release under licence. Bill arranged a deal to retrieve the tapes for a release along with the Mini-lp, "Living for the Spangled Moment". These tapes have been re-mixed and cleaned up by Bill and his engineer John Spence and released by Bill's Sonoluxe Label on CD. Most major shops are carrying it and "Sound on Sound" are selling it from their Web site.

Musically it's a step on from "The Love that Whirls" and is considered by Bill to be a very Commercial recording. It was never mainstream however but has always been a "sought after" recording. The sounds and textures are superb and it's also contains sax played by Bill's younger brother Ian who tragically died last year.

UFO - Strangers In The Night.

Had it on vinyl many moons ago, rebought off Amazon for under a fiver.

Went to see UFO on that tour, although Michael Schenker had left the band by then. Also saw them at Knebworth as part of the package supporting Deep Purple in '85.
