I am guessing that soundgarden are unlikely to ever reform. IIRC when they split it was far from amicable....
Yep (I don't think they ever would), doesn't stop me being pissed off that I never got to see them live though...
I never saw them either But at least audioslave played black hole sun and spoonman....
Just ordered "Scroll & Its Combina" by The Wellwater Conspiracy - Matt Camerons side project band featuring Kim Thyll and Ben Shepard from soundgarden...

good choice
Watch out for a New Be-Bop Deluxe Live set soon. Bill's been re-mixing the tapes from the Modern Music tour and it is due out soon.
If you are interested in his new stuff check out the Sound on Sound web site. They sell all his new releases and some of the rare back catalogue has been re-released. I can recommend "The Alchemical Adventures Of Sailor Bill".
Last few CD's i have bought have been of such appalling overcompressed quality that i see little point any more.
Why pay out for crap quality CDs when you can get crap quality MP3 for free?
Last couple of albums i bought were after downloading and liking the track so though it would be nice to get them in with decent sound quality.
If the CD industry started putting a bit of effort into making them sound like real music than distorted MP3s maybe they would actually sell more!
(Or am i one of the few with ears that work?)

Pop stuff is just pushed out as product. Watch out for older albums that are re-mastered by a credible producer/engineer or those where the master was done for High-Band SACD or DVD-Audio. The nature of those media means they HAVE to be good. Recent example are Depeche Mode's "Playing the Angel". Also I have been pushing Bill Nelson's work here and he has a very good reputation as a producer. Bill and His Partner in crime John Spence do produce some work that is of superb production quality as well as being good music.
The use of DVD transport's in CD players doesn't help much either. Even one of Meridian's CD player's uses one and it isn't that well thought of for CD replay. It does play DVD-Audio superbly though.

Most CD's i have are older ones and in general they are pretty good.
I use a fairly old but once high end ish Pioneers PDS901 and Musical Fidelity X-Dac.
It's deeply annoying where i have to choose what music i can listen to based on the quality rather than what i want to listen to. I keep thinking about going back to vinyl but from what i hear the problem is the same.
Are the Jap import CD's any better? I can't believe that i can buy a early 60s recording and it wipes the floor with almost all recent albums i have heard.
I don't have the facilities to play SACD or DVD audio and am loathe to spend out more unless the quality will make it worth while.
To be honest a lot of the stuff on DTV seems better than the CD, was very impresed by some of the Abbey Rd stuf on E4.

All 3 albums from The Streets in one go. I do like them actually. Although I'm not listening to them much at the moment. I'm going through more of a Scrubs music phase.
The Streets are brilliant. Some people dont like the delivery, I do, but listen to the stuff. Its more real than most music, its bloody hilarious in places and sad in others.
If you listen to a grand don't come for free from start to finish it superb. In fact I will now...

You don't need to buy the SACD's or DVD-Audio's just watch out for the Albums mastered for them. The quality of Master has to be better which has a positive effect on the CD version.
