These are my preferred choice if I'm listening to grunge;
Alice in Chains- Dirt
Sound Garden- Superunknown/Bad Motorfinger

Am I the only person who cannot stand Pearl Jam?
I still have SuperUnknown on my regular playlist... but also Down on the Upside. Only Pearl Jam album I like is Ten... the others do nothing for me.

Didn't get the critical acclaim of SuperUnknown, but there are some good tracks on there (IMO). Certainly worth the £5 it costs from play.com - http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/155257/Down-On-The...

My faves were Siamese Dream, and FNM-The Real Thing. FNM are without doubt the greatest band I've ever seen live (several times).

Agree - ten is a brilliant album. The others were let downs IMO

Have you heard Vs? By far and away my favourite and more of a laster than Ten, which plays like a collection of singles (like Nirvana's Nevermind or Metallica's Black Album for instance).

Agreed. Got everything up to No Code, but Ten still ticks the boxes for me.

For me, Ten is the most consistent where pretty much every track is a gem. But the others up to and including No Code have sensational moments: Rear View Mirror, Dissident, Nothingman, and I've always loved the first two tracks on No Code. That soft, reflective mood of "Sometimes" going straight into the huge "Hail! Hail!".

Ten & Vs are top Pearl Jam & grunge albums indeed, but Yield is a pretty solid PJ effort too IMO, love a quick blast of Brain Of J from that every now and again!
i like to keep Superunknown & Sky Valley quite close to the top of my CD pile still too

Mudhoney - Superfuzz Big Muff

Just awesome.

The Alice in Chains unplugged album is pretty good too.

Most of Soundgarden's stuff is great too.

I was never a big fan of Pearl Jam either.

I'm off to listen to Mudhiney now.

I prefer "Piece of Cake"

Saw them live at Hammersmith Apollo (IIRC) on the "My Brother the Cow" tour. Jeez, that must have been about '95!

I'd go for Mudhoney by Mudhoney or Stone Temple Pilots Tiny Music and also Bleach by Nirvana...
