I always loved the version of gimmee shelter by the Inspiral Carpets, more so than the Rolling Stones original.
They are just playing "Satisfaction" by Devo on 6Music now.

I got monumentally pissed with Jeff one night in a Pub. He spent hours at the piano singing all sorts of styles.

Bon Jovi teams up with Iranian musician Andy Madadian to cover "Stand by Me".

I personally like this version better than the original, especially the instrumental part.

This may not be popular but I have a severe allergy to Kiedis and the gang paperbag

I have always been rather fond of this cover of Jolene from The Sisters Of Mercy.

Their cover of Gimme Shelter is pretty awesome as well.

Ryan Adam's version of Wonderwall is so much better than the Oasis original.

I hesitate to say this transcends the original, because that would be sacreligious, but Lizz Wright's cover of Led Zep's "Thankyou" works as a most amazing, deep blues, styling. Beautiful version.
+1 Never heard it before but superb.

There is a version of Thank You done by a string quartet, even that works surprisingly well.

'In the air tonight' by Nonpoint.

As much as I like Phil, I actually prefer this version.

Jimi's own cover of Manic Depression will make your hairs jump out of their follicles!

Makes Jeff Beck look a bit tame. In Becks version the drumming is not up to it, the vocals are not as good and the guitar is typical Beck techno fiddly whereas Hendrix is playing from the heart.

I knew the Madonna one, there was an article in the paper around the time it was a hit for her. Ironic that "I write the songs" by Barry Manilow was a cover, though. Reminds me of a comment in a music paper about Leif Garrett being seen passed out in a disco in London, when his then-current (only?) hit contained the lyrics "I was made for dancing, all, all, all, all night long".

I like this. Red Molly (appropriately) sing 1952 Vincent Black Lightning, by Richard Thompson.
