Old case...

Here she is!

Woo!

So, it's got a big, thick neck. By the 12th fret it's a real handful. But is is so light in comparison to some others. Only played it through a handheld amp currently, but my GAS has got to stop soon....

the cream pair

Had the Tele a while, but picked up a bargain on the acoustic.
Solid spruce top , Lacewood side & rear Tanglewood - with B Band pre- and sounds awesome.
really, really nice to play - sort of guitar once you pick it up you end up thinking "where did the evening go.."

A 58 or 59?

Congratulations, she's beautiful. clap

Loved them since seeing/hearing Andy Powell (Wishbone Ash) play one.

You young whippersnappers are dead lucky, us olduns can't afford our birth year guitars.

Still it's our fault. Should have bought them in the '70s when they were cheap!

Cheaper now I think! I remember looking in the music shop in one of the arcades in Leeds when I was at Uni in the late 70s and a Les Paul was £350 - £380 depending on spec and there were not so many models then. I was earning £25 a week labouring in my summer job in '77 so it would have taken me 14 weeks to buy one.

My student son at the same age earned £200 a week as a farm hand last summer and you can get a Les Paul Standard from Andertons for £2099 - 10 weeks money.

(My first electric was an Avon SG copy that cost £50 in one of those 2nd hand shops near the station in Leeds. It was OK really...)

'76 smile

Went looking for a decent strap for it, but having seen some of the major Gibson straps, I'm going to put it on the Xmas list.

That's a thought - do people get straps specifically for each guitar like I do?

I used to use Fender straps as I had mainly Fender guitars. Since I discovered DSL straps I've used them on everything as they seem well made and comfortable.

I wouldn't be looking for a Les Paul Standard though, I first saw the light of day in 1954, the same the year as the Strat.

I have a little thing for Gibsons at the moment. Here is my latest acquisition - a 2015 Sprint Run Les Paul Studio in Wine Red. Lovely peice of kit, and at a great price too.

Sorry, I missed this. I don't like LP's, but that that is lovely. How is it playing?

Nice one! A Les Paul Studio is definitely on my list of must have guitars. I love the inpretentiousness of them, guitars made to be picked up and played music

In the meantime my JP-2C just arrived. Got band practice in Paris this evening (singing and go on the bike) so can't play it until later. Rather frustrating!

That looks a lovely set up there driller. cool

I know what you mean about the LP Studio; I got a satin black one, with black P90s and only the bare amount of chrome hardware...you'd think it was a cheap copy apart from the name on the headstock, so it's my 'underdog' guitar and as you say very unpretentious.

I just received a B stock Orange Tiny Terror head to go with my existing Marshall JMP1-H and Vox NT15G2. Brief testing showed that it sounds different enough to them to warrant keeping it, both clean and dirty tones. I love using heads as it's easier to find room for them all and only one cabinet.

Thanks smile Yeah the head thing makes sense. It gets the GAS going too imagining all the possibilities. I did order a 2x12 vertical Boogie cab with it but I'm told that won't arrive until the end of the month rolleyes Nice fella in the shop lent me a 1x12 though.

I got back late this evening and am too knackered to petit up and try the jp-2c out. Supposed to be leaving at 8am for a long weekend so looks like it's going to just in the studio for a few days headache

Lovely. Those 70's Ibanez guitars are serious bits of kit!!

I've always fancied a 70s AS200/Artist!

They are, I'm well pleased with it and even more so as I got lucky buying it, only others I have seen have been more expensive and look like they've been thrown off of a multi storey car park.

Just put a set of Seymour Duncan SSL-5 (bridge) and SSL-1's (neck / middle) onto my MIJ Strat, and changed the strings from 9's to a set of 10's as well while I was at it.

First impressions are very good on both counts - need to crank it up a bit when everyone goes out tomorrow to be sure smile
