Lets look at our guitars thread
Discussion
I'll try and get some close ups on it tomorrow. I haven't really put it down since I got it home. I'm so pleased with it. Wish I had bitten the bullet sooner. Needs proper light to show off the wood. It's bloomin lurvely though. For an amateur like me it's far too good but it manages to make even my feeble playing sound quite nice, I'm humbled. And a little in love with it.
It's an electro acoustic. Those three knobs are apparently for the volume, bass and treble. It''a not something I know a lot about. I don't have an acoustic amp. Just a rubbish one for my electrics so no idea honestly on what the crack is with acoustics and amps.
I did plug it into my electric guitar amp earlier and it wasn't great. There are acoustic amps for sale of which I know nothing. The whole electro bit is not of much importance to me but if anyone on here can shed some light on it I'd be happy to know?
It's just something it came with and I suppose is a bonus. Not sure I will ever use it but who knows

In basic terms, acoustic amps are designed to "colour" the sound less. They are not intended to overdrive the output signal so you won't get overdrive / distortion, they have a flatter and wider frequency response and are more transparent, the idea being to just take the natural sound of your acoustic guitar and make it louder without changing the sound. They also have speakers more appropriate for transparent sound amplification and sometimes tweeters to help with the higher frequency sounds.I did plug it into my electric guitar amp earlier and it wasn't great. No offence but surely you'd find out what those controls did and test them out before spending (presumably) a lot of money!I did plug it into my electric guitar amp earlier and it wasn't great. None taken mate.
Electro was of little consequence for me. I don't record myself or play gigs so really have no use for that part of it They are just an additional bonus. Who knows, in the future I may need/ want them. I did know what they do/ what they are for. I admit I had assumed that you could just use any old amp. I wasn't aware that acoustic specific amps existed. That was new to me. That aside It was the guitar i was interested in, after I played it I just kinda had to have it and it doesn't come without the electro so that's that.

Same with my Martin, see above for pics, sounded lovely as an acoustic has a couple of buttons one labelled phasor unsure of the other. No idea what they do and its only been plugged into an amp for about five minutes to test it all worked.
Was confused by your knobs as the first picture made the white lines look like guitar string, and couldnt for the life of me think what was going on.
Enjoy in good health

Thanks mate. I am certainly enjoying it. It was between a Martin and Taylor for me for my first "higher spec" acoustic and I tried many iterations of both in the shop. The guy helping out said that basically all martins now come with electro. It's true that all the ones I tried did anyway. i guess that's what the majority of users want these days.
There are still plenty of acoustics around that done have any onboard electrics. For studio recording, a properly micced guitar will usually be preferred over an acoustic plugged in and played through an amp or direct into the desk.
Live work is a different ballgame when you're fighting feedback but many acoustic players still close mic when they can.

Cannot believe that these came with the Alpha/Omega pickups. Not a Periphery fan, but lord is this tempting at the price it is.
I'm not a huge fan either. But a 25.5 ebony board on a PRS (Se) style guitar with production run custom shop SDs is too good a chance to miss.
But I want a 'metal' guitar and this fits the bill, also helps that WMI put out some properly high quality guitars these days.
They build the non custom, Boden Strandbergs and Ormsby guitars.

I can vouch for the quality of the Strandberg Boden line, cannot fault the quality at all. Then again, given the price, there should be no flaws! But a 25.5 ebony board on a PRS (Se) style guitar with production run custom shop SDs is too good a chance to miss.

I'm glad Mark Holcomb is getting SE sigs as well as the regular PRS sig. I always thought he seemed like a nice guy and hopefully a bit more scrupulous in his endorsements than the bloated, egotistical Misha Mansoor, who has had his name on some right turkeys over the years.

Is that yours Mastodon? Beautiful. I only came aware of these guitars recently but it would seem they've been around a fair few years. Normally I dislike the headless look but they really got it right with these. I'll have one in blue quilted maple please Mastodon2 said:
