Mind you, 25% Buyer's Premium is taking the piss, don't you think?
Before you import anything.

They'll be beyond their worth if buying from over here. Still, if you really, really want one...

2007 Gibson Flying V Ebony - sold:

It's fair to say I am absolutely no guitar player, not even air. But I, as a listener, am always pretty much mesmerised by the Flying V. Seem to be such an unloved axe?

I've heard some of the most beautiful timbres coming from such a plank.

Just ordered a Fender Standard Strat, my first proper Fender guitar... £419. Can't wait!

I'm very much an amateur who plays as a hobby, I'm not in a band or anything like that, and this is the most expensive guitar I've bought.

I already have...

Squier Affinity Stratocaster
Westone Spectrum DX
cheapo acoustic guitar (think it was about £20, but it's surprisingly good!)

Tanglewood RVB-1 Violin bass (McCartney style)
Yamaha RBX-170 bass
Ibanez BTB-406 (six string active bass)

Yep, free next day Saturday delivery too. smile

From the reviews I've read, the Mexican built Strats are not that far off the American ones for build and parts quality, so are excellent value for money. Mind you, even the Squier I have is pretty good quality, and I believe that was built in Indonesia.

I think Fender are pretty strict re. the quality they demand from their non US builders. Lovely looking thing, enjoy smile

Oops... I missed a guitar off my list! I have a Hofner Shorty CT travel guitar, which is just amazing for the price (around the £100 mark). It holds a tune very well, and gives a very full sound for its size.

Yes... me too.

And with the maple finger/fret board and white scratch plate... the perfect combo, for me anyway.

Enjoy it.

I bought a Les Paul last week, a 2013 standard. Here it is with my sons Epiphone (left) and my Burny (right)

I tried a lot of guitars last week but kept coming back to the same one. PMT offered me a good deal and then knocked a bit more off, and then it was the end of the month.. Hard to say no really.

I remember getting a cheap 3/4 classical from my parents when I was small. Never learnt a single chord shape. Two years ago took up Ukulele, loved it, learnt some great songs, but it didnt have that full rich sound I was looking for. Dug out that terrible old 3/4 classical, started practicing, love it. After borrowing my girlfriends Yamaha acoustic on many occasions I decided to get myself this

Love round back design. Feels so comfortable!

Ill upload a picture when my new ovation arrives! biggrin

Also, loving the guitars in this thread, theyre all amazing.

My brother had an ovation prob about 22yrs ago. I was only a kid then but remember my dad being really impressed with it. Always loved the look of them, will have to get round to trying one some time.
Let us know what it's like.

How old is that Epiphone? is it a limited edition? (should have a stamp on the headstock rear?) Epiphone mad some truly excellent ltd edtn LP models in the early 90's.

When I very first started taking guitar lesson I noticed a catalogue for Ovation in the shop where I took the lessons, remember thinking how cool they looked, then a few years later realising how comfortable the back design means I have some serious want for one...

It is 1996, there is nothing beyond the serial no on the back of the headstock. I bought it off a bloke in Brighton for a couple of hundred quid, he was a working musician and it has been well used looked after and set up. It does not play quite as well as the Burny or the Gibson but it is a nice guitar and my boy loves it.

The biggest surprise was the sound, the Burny and Gibson are very similar on max everything, the Epi is much, much weaker, nice tone but much weaker. The Gibson has a much wider tonal range than the burny even without the taps and splits.

The burny is possibly the best £100 I've ever spent. I'll now either sell it or get it completely rebuilt.

Cheers

The one I have is a '94 exactly the same colour, buts it's a limited edition, basically it has the Gibson '59 PAF pick ups and Gisbson hardware. I've had it since new, I'll never sell it. I've put a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker in the bridge and removed the scratch plate and switch surround. I'll bob a piccy on...
