Back to looking at our guitars. Last weekend I visited World Guitars, and came away with this, a Taylor 354ce 12-string. It sounds absolutely lovely, Mrs Gaspode reckons it's the best sounding of all my guitars which was lucky as I didn't have to reveal the cost
Lovely guitar. You can't beat a bit of twelve string.aidb said:

Love to see it, I like Ovations. I bought a second-hand Balladeer a couple of years ago to take with me when we went on holiday in the camper van, the theory being that the robust construction could take a knock or two. it sounds good and plays nicely, the only thing I found was that being slightly porky there are two convex surfaces involved when playing it Answer for me is to either stand up and use a strap, or prop myself into a position to stop it slipping. If I wasn't two stone overweight I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue.

Not sure about that... I'm pretty much in shape and still find my Ovation tricky to get comfortable with, either sitting or on a strap. Much prefer my Guild J40.Answer for me is to either stand up and use a strap, or prop myself into a position to stop it slipping. If I wasn't two stone overweight I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue.
Never played a Washburn acoustic, is that what NB used for the song? Remember the N4 being very cool in its minimalist style at the time.
Played at a dentist friend's house the other day. He's mad into music and has a few guitars in his studio. Knows how to play a bit too, can go from Vai to Knopfler in a heartbeat.

Just ordered a Fender Standard Strat, my first proper Fender guitar... £419. Can't wait!
I'm very much an amateur who plays as a hobby, I'm not in a band or anything like that, and this is the most expensive guitar I've bought.
I already have...
Squier Affinity Stratocaster
Westone Spectrum DX
cheapo acoustic guitar (think it was about £20, but it's surprisingly good!)
Tanglewood RVB-1 Violin bass (McCartney style)
Yamaha RBX-170 bass
Ibanez BTB-406 (six string active bass)
Lovely guitar in a great colour. You simply cannot beat a good old fashioned Fender Strat, especially with a maple neck. I love mine and rate it second overall out of a collection of 10 quite varied guitarsI'm very much an amateur who plays as a hobby, I'm not in a band or anything like that, and this is the most expensive guitar I've bought.

Hmmm... coincidental username... ? If you haven't also got a similar stash of gear, you must have a very bad coke habit.
Similar? I'm not mental! B17NNS said:

Yeah, who needs the frills when you can play like that http://www.andertons.co.uk/electro-acoustic-guitar...

I'm spoilt for the acoustic, ever since I got my Gibson nothing sounds the same anymore. But again it's not the guitar that makes the player.
Sad that he's stooped to prostituting himself instead of playing proper music.

I've got a J-185. I adore it, it's a thing of beauty, it sounds wonderful and it's something i've always wanted to own. But I just can't seem to get along with it, I've had it a year or so but we just haven't gelled. There's a luthier/builder close to me (www.wilkesguitars.co.uk) so I'm going to get him to take a look. I'm sure it can play better than it does.Driller said:
