Lets look at our guitars thread
Discussion
Cheers! It plays even better than it looks. Even for a ham-fisted, broken fingered oaf like myself! The thread about my journey is here: Swirled Guitar.

Can anyone answer a question? why are basses bigger bodied than their six string counterparts? bearing in mind the Hofner violin bass is considerably smaller.
I'd always assumed it's something to do with the resonance - needs more wood at the lower frequencies. Saying that I've played some very nice basses that are small-bodied - Warwick Thumb basses come to mind specifically. My Musicman Sterling is pretty small-bodied, smaller than the Stingray. The ESP 5-String a few posts back is pretty huge-bodied and weighs a ton compared to the Sterling. Tonight's 4-hour practice promises to be a bit of a bugger!

I'd love to do a gig with that, just to see the look on the bands faces! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzDohmkXeJs
On that note, the Quilter Tone block looks like a bit of kit.

May I just point out that pickups are magnetic, therefore cannot hear wood, only strings.
Was discussing this yesterday in particular relation to the strat where they are screwed to the plastic pickguard & not the body. I guess the wood has a bearing on how the strings vibrate along with other factors & therefore influence the tone produced through the pickups.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
