Har! That is lush. Just my kind of Tele. Battered, modded, well used & a rosewood board. I'd be pals with that.

Christmas present to myself.
As great as second hand bargains are, there's something to be said about being the first owner of a brand spanking new guitar.

Are you going to play it asap or be good and wait until Thursday?
Yes - I've been looking at second hand ones for a while, but they're not really that much cheaper, and this is a new one in a limited edition colour (Bourbon Burst) and has the coil tapping pro pickups.

I've tuned it, and it's on the wall until tomorrow!

In my very limited experience of Epiphone Les Pauls it seems prices are all over the show. The shops are asking for nearly new money, and ebay is an utter minefield with seemingly identical guitars selling at hundreds of pounds apart and that's before you get some downright cheeky sellers not happy with a final bid of say £275 and pulling the no reserve 30 bid auction with 20 minutes to go and re-listing them with a starting price of £300 the next day.
Very true. To be honest, I played a few second hand ones in guitar shops, pawn shops and even some from local freeads, but they were all dirty, like absolutely filthy, some sounded crackly, some had wobbly necks, some just wouldn't tune...and they ranged from £180 (for a Studio) to over £400 (Black Beauty) and I didn't like any of them. This was £less than the BB, in case the wife is reading and plays so much better. Plus I get a warranty, free setup after six weeks, the probucker high output pickups with coil tapping, and the limited edition colour. And they've ordered me a matching Epiphone hard case to arrive in January as well for half list price. As I said to the missus, I would have been stupid not to get it.

I rather like that, strangely BC Rich-ish (still wish I'd never sold my USA Gunslinger frown). What is it?
It's a Fernandes Ravelle X.

After 6 months of lessons and practice, it's time I posted my starter collection smile

The Epiphone Les Paul is a 2004 with Seymour Duncan pickups that I got for Christmas. The quality is really good for an Epihphone too!

I love Soloists. Great sound, lovely neck, fantastic to play.

Rocksmith 2014.

I have the PC version, and it supports multiple acounts, can't comment on the purchasing side of things as I am a tightwad/too crap to justify it smile

I have a HTPC in the lounge so can noise pollute in (limited) style.

I wonder if Guitar Guitar still have my old SL-3 for sale. They have a beautiful PC-1 in, used for £1900. I hate Def Leppard but I love Phil's signature model.

How come it's got 5 bridgey bits on the front, but only 4 bolts through the back to hold them on?

Either one short, or one too many for my preferences.

The 4 on the back are the bolts that hold the bridge in place - the 5 bridges are attached to that. Quite a solid piece of metal - as you'd expect from the extra scale length the sustain on the B and E strings is unbelievable. The low strings are a bit thinner than I'm used to @ .045, .058, .075, .098 & .127.

If I were playing a lot of chordal or high-register melodic pieces I could see a use for a high C but I don't and 5 suits my needs for now. I'd consider 6 if I joined a death metal outfit though for the low F#!

Being able to use the B-string in the 5-12 fret positions without the tone or intonation suffering is the biggest win on this bass - previous 5s just didn't manage the feel and sound as well so I'd play more like a 4-string and use the B only for the 5 low notes! having to re-learn my playing to an extent which is never a bad thing.

Not found the fan frets to be an issue yet although the 1-3 frets and anything above 16th require a bit of concentration!

No pictures yet, but having done a few open mic nights now using my epiphone 355 I thought it was about time to get a decent electro acoustic. So i've just treated myself to a Yamaha apx1000. Its bloody lovely and unlike my Yamaha F310 I can actually play it (a bit).
