Also, this is random, but I have a Digitech Death Metal pedal, brand spanking, in its box at home.

If anyone wants to cover postage, it's theirs. Any takers?

Update from the missus. It's arrived! This is going to be a long aftrrnoon.

Nope not grey, that's just a pic from the add. It's mahogony I think. kinda same as yours but looks to be darker wood. Had some new strings arrive for it yesterday so that will be the first, well second job I guess.

It's called a Fender Modern Player Jaguar.
Thanks for that, makes it easier to search for.

This was a slightly drunken eBay purchase. Think it's discontinued now so probably won't find a new one. If you can please don't post a link. I think I probably paid over the odds but I'd rather not know.

Update. It's on the van out for delivery!
Might explain why the usual sites/shops I go to don't have any showing.

I have found that Thomann sometimes have stuff that has been discontinued, though without trying to order you don't know if it is really still available. I fancy a Vox AC15 handwired amp, but they are discontinued, though Thomann shows stock...I'm not sure whether to say 'luckily' but I've found one for sale locally to me and I'm very tempted to get that. I compared a few amps the other day and was surprised to find I prefer the Vox options (AC10 and standard AC15) verses the Fender ones ('65 and '68 Deluxe reverb).

I might be posting a 'look at my amp' post soon though. smile

I can recommend alchohol to get the ball rolling on your guitar based purchases. Never heard of that thomann site. Looks dangerous!

I daren't drink and buy. smile Otherwise I would be bankrupt by now. I've used Thomann for someother gear (a flat packed 19" rack for one) and the service was fine and the gear turned up well packed. However, I'd be a bit more nervous of ordering something delicate like a guitar or a valve amp, though I suppose if it turned up wrecked then you'd have the internet/distance selling regs behind you to return it.

Must...resist...

Here we go. Better pic hopefully you can see the colour better. It feels odd playing a different guitar. Like it though. No marks on it whatsoever so pleased with that. Only issue I have is it looks like the selector switch knob is missing so just has a threaded end at mo. Will want to get something on there.

Plays nice. It's not what I'm used to but I like that. I wanted something different. Got new strings on and given it a clean. Doesn't sit in my floor stand very well. Worried it may topple out due to its shape. I'm happy though. Just need to learn how to do it justice now.

What's the balance like? The body looks a little 'Thumb' like if a little larger - 5-string thumbs tend to have horrific neck dive (or at least my old bolt-on did). What's the effective scale length on the B?
The ergonomics of the SR are nothing like the Thumb. I've had two Thumbs and I now have an SR3006 - the Thumbs were a 4 string BO and a 5 string Broadneck BO. Thumbs don't neck dive badly if you wear them as intended, up high on the chest, which I did. Think Mark King style, they balance nicely there and the bowl cut back makes good sense. It also manages the weight better than putting it near your core, however I still found the Broadneck a bit to manage, just because the neck was so chunky. It was actually a six string neck fitted with five strings for wider spacing, utterly bizarre really as the neck felt massive, but I've fairly big hands so I didn't mind all that much. I would never have specced it like that from new though. The BO body was also a little longer than the NT body too, I thought the NT balanced better overall but neither bass suffered from neck dive when worn high.

However, I'd never played a high end SR until I tried my SR3006, but I'd wanted the SR3006 for years, ever since seeing one in the 2002 Ibanez catalogue. The SR is always commended for it's relatively thin body and neck, but the ergonomics are just so right. The body is thin in profile, with rounded edges, and balances extremely well. The neck is thin, but beautifully proportioned in a 'C' shape. I can see why SR fans love their basses so enduringly, because the feel is just so right and so natural. The SR3006 is pretty 'Thumby' in it's sound even, with a mahogany body and a bubinga/wenge neck and Barts. It sounds like the old NT Thumbs did, albeit with a little more top end. I say it has that 'studio sound' atypical of so many high end basses with Bartolini pickups and preamp, you can just walk into a studio and have that 'Manhattan boutique' sound on that go that just works so well.

That's a lovely arrangement Davidd, nice moody picture too. I saw a V30 in Andertons the other day but don't' know much about them (I'm looking for an amp/head with a great clean tone and so far the Vox AC15 is favourite, but if I happen to get something with a great dirty tone as well, then that's a bonus). They had a used V30 for a couple of hundred less than new as well.

I've got a Classic 50s Tele with the old style 3 saddle bridge, it has it's foibles but has a really strong Tele twang to it, especially with the steel saddles. I do fancy one with P90s and the cut down bridge similar to yours as well though.

I ran a vox ac50 for years and loved it. The V30 has two channels, clean and dirty. Mine is a V40, single channel, lovely cleans but breaks up so very nicely. It takes pedals really well. Andertons are the only place you'll get one in the UK but well worth a try if you can.

The 2016 line up of Gibson electrics was officially released yesterday.

http://www.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Features/en-u...

They've been very clever and come out with two lines: Traditional, returning to classic styling and High Performance which is basically a continuation of 2015'sG-Force tuning, adjustable metal nut and wider necks.

They must have a few of those robotuners in the inventory to shift!

I've ordered a classic Firebird smile

Thanks, didn't realise it was unique to Andertons, might have to go back and give the V30 a try, especially if they still have the used one.

Should have a courier coming to visit later today with a custom Strat body from Guitarbuilder for me. I've been accumulating parts for a while and will be making something similar the Pete Townsend's strats, complete with piezo pickup in the bridge. Might do a build thread if anyone would be interested?

Not got off to a great start, the body needs remaking as the neck pocket is wrong... To be fair Guitarbuild have held their hands up and are sending a new one on Monday. (I'm using a neck that was intended for an aborted tele project, so the heel is square rather than curved like a Strat neck)
