I bought one of these on GG's deal of the day today, £399 delivered. I nearly pulled the trigger a few months ago at £650!:

That looks lovely, especially in blue and it has P90s (which I seem to have developed an obsession about finding a guitar with them).

However, I made the mistake of clicking on the link and I then saw their offer on a Marshall JMP1H 1 watt valve head £200 off, so now £349.00. I think it would go nicely with the Vox head (for clean tones mostly) I was thinking of getting as I like the Marshall OD sound.

I reckon I've nearly bought wink about £6k worth of guitars and amps this week...though the only thing I actually have bought was some strings. smile

£6k!

That's a Gary Clsrk Jr Blak n Blue signature Casini, pretty much a standard Casino (£450) but with Gibson p90's in it. Didn't seem good value at £600-ish but at £400 it is!

Only £6k as in if you add up all the gear I've had under consideration this week...not that I'd be spending that much on a single item!!

It seems like Guitar Guitar seem to carry old stock because the Marshall amp I found thanks to your link is from 2012 and I've now found a Gibson SG 50s Tribute (with P90s of course) that is a 2013 model (non of that autotuner gear on it, which I'd prefer).

So as of this moment my upgrade list is:
Gibson SG 50s Tribute in satin black.
Marshall JMP-1H 1 watt head.
Vox Night Train 15 watt G2 head.
Greenback speaker to use in existing combo as a cabinet for above.
Eventually a nice cabinet to put the above Greenback speaker in.
That's around £1250 plus the cabinet (maybe £200 for something that I'd be able to put in the living room), at least I might get a bit off by trading in some older gear (Affinity Tele, 8 watt Orange practice amp and a Blackstar HT5-R that I've never really got on with).

I'd better show a picture to get back on topic. This is a 50's Classic Tele in the lacquer finish that I picked up use on Gumtree for about half price. I've since swapped out the pick ups for some Fender OV ones I had in the Affinity Tele and set it all up to suit my playing/string choice.

This is the cabinet I might get made up to put the Greenback speaker in (it's the wrong style to go with the JMP-1H though):

How was it? I didn't realise he was playing at the Apollo! It's 20 mins from home for me, I should have bought a ticket...

Wibble. OK, a seriously nice bloke. Really interested in the guitars and the process. Signed both!

We were 3 rows back, right opposite him. Some amazing photos (will have to wait a bit to collate them and post).

Their playing....wow. Just wow. Jaw dropping. The support act Dan Palansky was very, very good as well. I'm still slightly in shock....

Ali2202 - you can't have been far from me for that gig. Front row with a meet an greet.
Last time i saw him was on the Flying in a Blue Dream tour 25 years ago.
Since last tuesday i've found myself playing the JS1000 all the time for some reason!
I was shocked (and a bit embarrassed) at the relatively demure seated response from the Glasgow crowd. Wouldn't have happened back in the days of The Apollo! rolleyes

i know what you mean it wasn't like that when i saw him in Newcastle 25 years ago.
It was a bit like when i saw Bonamassa a few years ago, strangest gig i've been to. Good but no-one moved till last song!

I just had a look to see what today's deal was and it just happened to be a satin black 50s Tribute Les Paul with P90s. I couldn't ignore this coincidence (well I only posted yesterday about a similar satin black 50s SG being on my 'list'), so I've taken a gamble and ordered one. Just hope it turns up OK and I get on OK with it. It was £399 down from £749, so nearly half price.

Still haven't decided about the 1 watt Marshall head that is on their home page. Really tempted for £349, but I've not played through one and I could get an ex demo Vox Night Train 15 watt head for the same amount. I know that I really like the Vox clean/slightly dirty tones too, but apparently they don't take pedals too well, so another head for heavier sounds seems reasonable. wink

I've seen Joe in Newcastle a couple of times. The first time was on the G3 tour with Robert Fripp and Steve Vai. That was a great show, although Fripp was an odd choice and didn't seem to be enjoying himself whatsoever. Next time. Joe came back on a solo tour with Paul Gilbert in support. I mean, come on, Paul fking Gilbert! So after we'd all been blown away by Paul, Joe came on with Stuart Hamm on the bass. I was at the front, right in front of Stu, mesmerised for the whole evening. What an incredible show!

However, I can't say I'm bothered when people stay seated at gigs. You're there to listen to the music and watch the band, enjoy the seat whilst you're at it.

I saw Mr Big at Newcastle City Hall on the Lean into it tour - my girlfriend at the time thought it was going to be a couple of hours of acoustic and 'to be with you'. She got a shock!

Great guitarist. Thanks to my previous employment i moved home quite a bit (around the country and abroad) and traveled a lot and didn't get the chance to get to may gigs. Now i live in the wilds of aberdeenshire and there aren't many gigs up here i'm interested in (Joe Bonammassa is the only one i've seen in aberdeen). The satch gig was a reunion with the friend i went to see him with in 1990, it won't be the last.

Now i'm looking at a new satch guitar - might have to trade the Jem BSB in for one!

I had a bad case of G.A.S a few years ago.

When the wife had a look round the house and counted 16 guitars i was forced to sell of a load i didn't play much - Washburn N4 Vintage, Jem Blue Floral (original one), RG 7 string, couple of Strats, Ibanez JS100 (gave that one to my son), Yamaha RGZ... the list goes on.

I kept the ones i play most and in the alst few years the only addition has been a Gilmour Strat.

Since I've got two Telecasters (one is an older cheapie Affinity I bought to take out travelling when I went away with work), then I think I'll sell the cheapie one, but only so I can make space for a future semi hollowbody 335 type guitar. wink

Ahhh, a Gibson? I tried one in my local shop last week and whilst I really liked it I really couldn't afford it - or be able to do it justice over an Epiphone 335 after only a year or so of learning.

But a Gibson 335 in satin red is on my wish list for the future!
