Lets look at our guitars thread

New guitar time again. Andertons got a used Fender Japan Pawn Shop '51 in the other day. It was advertised at a very reasonable price and, having a bit of a Japanese Fender fetish, I couldn't resist.
Truth be told I was expecting it to have the odd rough edge here and there but when it arrived I was blown away. For a guitar made in 2010 it is pretty much immaculate and I suspect it has been in a case/gig bag it's entire life. The ONLY marks on it are 2 light belt buckle scratches in the back. The metal work (bridge, tuners and screws) is all immaculate and brand new looking, there isn't even any dust in the pickup cavity.
Most importantly of all it plays beautifully. Pickups sounds great (Fender Enforcer at the bridge, Texas Special in the neck) and while it is a little unusual in not having a tone control I'm probably going to modify it a little with a tone pot in place of the 3 way selector and stick a switch in elsewhere. It is almost certainly going to get a 3 ply scratch plate too as I don't like the look of single ply.
Overall I'm really pleased, quirky Japanese Fender for under £300. Bargain!
Apologies for the crappy mobile pictures.

I've actually got 2 fenders with no tone control. The other is an Esquire Gt (basically a mahogany tele with a set neck and a single Seymour Duncan invader at the bridge). Not the most dynamic of guitars but sounds good and is fun to play punky stuff on.
Something I'm working on at the moment; a modified Affinity Telecaster that I've made into a kind of Esquire. I saw an advert for a blank control plate and it gave me the idea to wire the single (humbucker in a single coil size) pick up direct to the jack. It leaves a really clean look to the guitar and I don't miss the lack of tone or volume control (I have a standard Tele if I want that option).I want to sort out the gap between the new bridge and the back of the pickguard, then I'm going to prep it ready to spray it Surf Green.
I find having no controls on the guitar quite liberating and it makes me just get on and play it rather than fiddling about with settings. The SD Lil '59 pick up helps too.
Your Tele there kind of reminds me of a Fender Bronco I once found in a pawn broker that had a humbucker shoved in.
They really are a different end of the spectrum to all the pristine, graphite bridges, flame top guitars, aren't they?
I might be drawn to the slightly twangy, clonky old stuff because I can't play for toffee
